See what I did there? What's going on with this defense? Are we just not made for a 4-3? Or is this Kiffin Marinelli thing just a desperate reach for help that isn't available right now? We have some talented players on this defense. I believe enough to be MUCH better than we're playing. I don't think we're Seattle by any means but, it looks to me like we're game planning terrible defensively. Everybody seems to be focused on this offense but, we're in the top ten in scoring. Granted I think we can get better offensively but, the real problem right now to me is this defense.

I think the defense has done some good things and things they still need to improve on. Dallas is 3rd in the league in sacks and we have forced turnovers. I think this is the early stages of this defense but then why would guys not get better with more reps in this defense?

Oh I agree with you there. I am loving the extra effort I am seeing. However, the play calling is terrible to me. Why are we giving up so many yards? Why are teams scoring so easily when we're 3rd in sacks? There is a glitch in the Matrix. It's like that commercial that talks about going to a Chinese restaurant and having Sweet OR Sour Chicken. It just doesn't work that way.

It is broken, as is out players. Selvie, God love him, was on the couch, along with Hayden. We lost our best defensive player from last year, and Rat. We also lost two young up and comers in TC in Bass and Crawford.

We are thin and injured. I think they have done an admiral job so far. The Giants of 2007 couldn't have gotten pressure on Rivers last week with those quick throws.

What I am concerned with is Mo and his confidence. Also, getting Carter back to normal. And hopefully getting Rat back in a couple of weeks wouldn't hurt.

I don't think it is play calling it is executions guys have zones they need to drop into at the proper depth and spacing. Zone is not a shut down type defense WR and TE will make catches in the seams but that is when guys need to lay the wood and not give up yards after catch. We also will change up into man coverage but in the end players need to execute.

I think we need to play more man and let the LB's zone. Bruce was terrible last game. Ugh...

I don't think us being thin is really the problem. We've been solid up front all things considered. Bruce and Mo need to step it up. They got beat up last match. We need to play more press IMO. Tampa 2 is supposed to press and I think that would help give the front 4 time to pressure as well as LB's time to get under the receiver in the zone.

2 words......four games.

That's 25% of the season gone. 4 games would have put us in the playoffs last year. Every game counts. However, I mostly intended the thread to strike conversation on our bigger issues. Remove the Tony Romo soap box. That thing is looking pretty dirty.

The Cowboys never looked good in the 3-4 and everyone was screaming for them to go back to the 4-3. The biggest issue with this team is the coaching.

No offense, but de fence is broken. Only special teams can overcome such adversity.

After ranking dead least in defense last season the Saints currently rank 6th under Ryan while the Cowboys rank 20th. I'm sure Ryan is getting a big kick watching the Cowboys defense continue to get shredded. Obviously the big difference with the Saints is having Sean Payton back. You can change schemes and coordinators all you want but if you don't have the right HC you're not going to win.

It's early in the implementation and I distinctly recall more than one ex-Buc saying that it took a couple of years and the right players in place before it would truly blossom.

The philosophy seems sound and I have no doubt Kiffin and Marinelli can bring a solid D to Dallas (with the compliance of the GM come draft time) but I do wonder about the timing, it doesn't fit into the "Win Now" category and seems to undo their selection of a coverage CB like Claiborne. They've got a lot invested in that dude and I'm not sure he fits into the new defense.

Bronco's are the key. If the defense can stop them, then they have taken it to next level and will have tons of confidence.
