I know you have to look at the source, but wanted to post it for those who may be interested.

PIERCE OUT FOR THE SEASON

A league source tells us that Giants middle linebacker Antonio Pierce is expected to miss the rest of the season, including any postseason games for which the team might qualify.
Pierce suffered a high ankle sprain against the Eagles on December 11.
He'll be replaced by Nick Griesen on Saturday against the Chiefs.
Pierce has been a solid contributor in his first season with the team, after jumping over from division rival Washington. With both Pierce and defensive tackle William Joseph expected to miss Saturday's game as well, it will be a tall order for the Giants to shut down Kansas City's potent offense.

HENRY ARREST NO SURPRISE TO LEAGUE INSIDERS

Not many folks around the league are surprised by the news that Bengals receiver Chris Henry has been arrested for possession of marijuana. Henry widely was regarded as a turd by scouts and G.M.'s, which caused a guy with first-round talent to land in round three.
And although we're very partial to the WVU football program, we can't ignore the things we hear from our network of sources.
"They have had some bad hombres down there," one source told us Friday morning, referring to WVU players he has scouted in the past. "I can't imagine [Morgantown] is a safe place to live."
In our view, however, things have changed. Sure, Henry was a problem child, as was teammate Pacman Jones, who once was arrested for cold-cocking a guy with a pool cue. But coach Rich Rodriguez has parlayed several successful seasons into some solid recruiting classes, and by all appearances they have a solid foundation of young guys who are far less inclined to engage in antisocial behaviors, including a pair of freshmen on offense -- quarterback Pat White and running back Steve Slaton -- who had great years and will draw plenty of national attention in the future.

MORE ON VINCE YOUNG

The source who offered his insights regarding Bengals receiver Chris Henry also tells us that there's a perception in league circles that former Texas Longhorns have some trouble adjusting to the NFL because they're "insulated and pampered in their little cocoon known as Austin."
This reality could affect the standing of quarterback Vince Young in the draft, whenever he comes out.
Then again, it didn't keep Cedric Benson from being the fourth overall pick a year ago. Then again, Benson hasn't done much to show that he deserved to be.And as to the belief that Young will stick around for one more year with the Longhorns, the source joked that another reason for Young to delay his departure to the NFL is that "he would have to take a pay cut."
Simmer down, Mack. We really don't believe that your guys secretly are being funneled big wads of cash by a network of boosters who are rich enough to do it, dedicated enough to want to, and smart enough not to get caught. No, we don't believe that for a minute.

Here is another one:

TACKLES AREN'T IN PRACTICE

By DAN MARTIN

December 16, 2005 -- Tom Coughlin hasn't said that Kareem McKenzie and Luke Petitgout are definitely out for tomorrow's game against the Chiefs, but while both were in uniform, neither tackle actually practiced.
"They were going to work out and continue to try to improve, and they all did something, but nobody took any snaps," Coughlin said of the tackles.

McKenzie (hamstring) figures to be held out, while Petitgout (back) has a chance to be available, although likely only in an emergency.

"We're going to see how it is," Coughlin said. "I'm not going to say one way or another. We'll see how they are tomorrow and go from there."

The duo's absence — both were listed as questionable yesterday — could mean that Rich Seubert may be called upon to play for the first time since breaking his right leg two years ago.

"If the team needs me, I'll be here," Seubert said. "I hope it's just the beginning. I want to play for a while, not just one game."

Seubert was inactive last week when the offensive line was first hit with injuries and hasn't played since breaking his leg in three places in the first quarter of a game against the Eagles on Oct. 19, 2003. He missed all of last season recuperating.

The linebacking corps will be without Antonio Pierce (high ankle sprain), a particularly sizable injury considering the defense will be facing the league's top offense.

Reggie Torbor, who has been thrust back into a starting role, knows the Chiefs present a challenge.

"They are a well-oiled machine," Torbor said of the Kansas City offense, led by QB Trent Green and RB Larry Johnson. . . . Pierce, William Joseph (ankle) and Jamaar Taylor (knee), who are all out this week, also did not participate in practice.

Couldn't help thinking that the same injuries the Gints(and Skins) are having now are what we had to suffer through earlier in the season(i.e. Flo, Dat, Henry, etc).

Injuries are a bummer-but having them this late in the season is really a killer. At least we had some time to make adjustments. :)

Our backers took a hit this year, maybe not to the extent the Skins secondary seems to be baned up. Do they have any secondary personnel ready to play at all? But we certainly know how that feels, having gone through last year, our secondary was Tnewm. that was it and it showed he could not do it alone. This is one reason I am seeing an easier time of the skins then we normally would have, if we exploit the injuries. Pple did on us last year. turn abouts fair play, right?

Young sighting recently, amazing amount of bling and nice vehicle, no way he stays, rumors had family quietly checking out agents or whatever they can do under the rules...

I knew it was just a matter of time with Henry...however I will admit I have been surprised that he has done so well with the bengals and not gotten in trouble with them for stuff...although maybe he has and I have just not heard about it.

The guy had the talent to be a better NFL player than college player but he just does have the maturity or attitude yet.

there's probably a LOT more truth to that than we'd like to believe.
Not knocking UT specifically but all of college athletics. Its so crooked its sickening. The purity of the game is still there for the most part so its fun to watch. But the big name, big boostered, programs are the ones winning every year and the reason is simple-mostly purchased talent. Kids are spoiled so rotten and then we wonder why they turn out to be turds as professionals....
Last I checked, a free education worth (that would normally cost 6-figures) was enough to reimburse athletes for their contribution to their school.
Now kids will look at you funny if all you can offer them is a free education.

The rules need changed and enforced. The freebies from the boosters need to go.
college athletics need an enema...esp football...

My brother's girlfriend is best friends with a certain OU FB's girlfriend. I met him a few months ago and he had a nice truck that University had "given" him. It happens all over football.
