Your take is just the lazy I don't want to do any thinking take. Unless you have proof I'm saying no to that bogus Romo take. Dak is "hated" another overused lazy persons take word because he's just average to many Cowboys fans and non fans alike.

If you hire someone who was a starter last year....you might be trying to heat it up a little bit.

Ouch. Have to agree w/ Phil on this.

Aside from a few(very few) extreme fans, I've seen very little actual love or hate toward Dak. Although he is creating some now w/ what appears to be unreasonable contract demands.

Nothing Dak does is doing anything at this point in the year. In case y'all haven't noticed, there isn't any actual football activity going on with any of the players. All this WHAT WILL THE CONSEQUENCES BE?!? talk is just meaningless preseason white noise.

Ask me again if he actually holds out from an activity involving being in the same area as other humans.

I would be amazed if Prescott held out going into the season.

If Dalton starts the season then Prescott wouldn't play another down with a star on his helmet.

The offense is absolutely loaded and any competent QB would smell of roses behind it.

Whatever people think of Jerry this was a fantastic move to move everything along.

Cowboys fans do not hate Dak. Most Cowboys fans think Dak is NOT an elite QB and should NOT be paid as such.

No one knows where the economy is heading.
What if the downturn causes a reduction in the cap?
Teams need to at least take that into consideration.

I say leave it. People want to rage at a player wanting to get market rate for their new contract. They rage and ALL players who want that. While the Dalton move was excellent for having a capable backup, the anti-pay crowd is posting out of their hopes that this will force Dak to get less and they'll "win" when I think it's closer to the "we're not going to be market setters" high they experienced for a short while with Zeke. We know what happened to their "hopes" of Zeke getting less, don't we. Lol.

Make that above market rate. Dak has already been offered market rate.

You think you know what market rate is? If Wentz and Goff got a $34M average, do you think it should still be $34M for Dak a year later? Do you know what the structure of the offer was, whether sufficiently front-loaded or improperly back-loaded compared to other contracts? No, you don't. You hear the rumor of the average and think, "OMG, that should be enough" when it has everything to do with how it's structured which no one knows. Yet, only Dak is being the stubborn one here when for all we know, the offered structure could have been out of line with what's been paid to QBs recently. When negotiations drag out, it's ALWAYS the player's fault according to fans. Why is that when there are 2 sides working? It's not hard to figure out.

If you believe Dak should be the highest paid QB at this time then I’d argue you are in the minority of Cowboy fans as most feel the offers which would make him Top 5 is more than fair and generous for his talent level and performance.

Dak is a top 5 QB whether those that want to believe it or not. He should be signed before July 15th although I would hope much sooner. We have a very good team now and with Dak in the fold one that could be great especially if they could pull off a trade for Jamal Adams at SS. Guess we will see what happens the next 70 days or so.

A very smart move on the basis of signing our new quarterback. Andy Dalton. He, like Dak, are 6'2", 220-225, as rookies. replaced a strong quarterback...Romo and Carson Palmer. Both were Pro Bowlers and in the playoffs their first seasons.

Dalton was solid on low salary and experience alone. But also is the fact, that if Dak does not sign either his contract on the table or negotiate a new one, then he re-enters a market that already has all starting jobs filled. He stands to lose a ton of money on top of just hoping to compete for a new team as the starting.

The team is brought up to speed, including a backup at quarterback. Dalton doesn't have to prove anything at present, but be ready if he is called upon for any reason.

The pressure is on Dak, who still needs to progress in the playoff arena...

    An extension in 2024: 4-years at $47.5 equals $190M

    An extension in 2025: 4-years at $51.5 equals $206M

So while the Dallas Cowboys would pay $12M more in 2024 should he sign just a 4-year deal, they’ll save $16M by locking him in a second deal a year early, ultimately saving them $4 million overall. Yes, this is projecting awfully far into the future but that’s what they’re trying to do anyway by fighting over that extra year.

What’s one extra year worth on Dak Prescott’s contract? Nothing if Dallas intends on signing him again when he’s 30-31 years old. In fact, it potentially saves them money to do a 4-year deal now. So let’s put this negotiation to bed and start working on building the most dominant offensive attack in the NFL, shall we?

I’m just saying, go in to this season with DiNucci and Cooper Rush or Andy Dalton? No brainer. The FO wants to pay Dak but the Cowboys just got some leverage back and they’re not waiting for the terms to be right for Dak, they’re making it about terms that is right for the team.

ridiculous comparison. If Aikman played in this era where QB's aren't allowed to be touched and WR's pretty much are able to run unmolested through secondary's, he would be a dominant QB.
