When I was a kid watching football in the 1970's and beyond, I do not ever recall anyone ever justifying a QB's worth because of how many yards he put up in a year? Same thing in the 1980's. In fact, the guys who were known for putting up big yardage, never won anything.

I think video games like Madden & fantasy football has ruined football forever. Idiot fans now just look at stats to determine who is better. By their metrics, Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman sucked and Danny White, Tony Romo and now Dak are football gods. (little g on purpose)

Passing yards only matter when the defense is selling out against the pass, and yards gained because Dak took advantage of the run game sell out do not matter for some reason. Got it.

I'm not saying anything anywhere in this thread about how good Dak is to historical greats or the current QB rankings. For ****s sake.

All I'm saying is Dak put up 4900 yards and people pretend it doesnt matter and expect him to put up even more, which has almost never been done.

I dont play madden or fantasy football.

I want Dak to not throw behind his WR’s. It’s not something I post about but I will let the neighbors know.

I guess Dan Marino sucked and had inflated stats because he never won a superbowl so his career accomplishments mean nothing.

Yet another example of Dak being held to a stupid standard.

The Joneses have been — and likely still are — looking to give Dak a contract in the $33-$35mil per-year range.

If that’s not “getting the credit he deserves”, then what is?

Of course putting up 4900 yards matter. It matters to the QB, and to his agent, both of whom will prosper greatly from it. The question is, does it matter to me as a fan? If so, why? Would putting up 2500 yards and a SB title matter more or less? To me as a fan, I don't get giddy about how many yards a QB throws for (unless he wins). Believe me, it has NOTHING to do with Dak. I have been that way since the Roger Staubach days. I realize this is just my view on things. You may get all giddy and bubbly inside when your QB throws for 400 or 500 in a game win or lose?

I recall that nail bitting tense game Dallas played against the Broncos when Romo ALMOST matched Manning yard for yard. That game was amazing up until Romo threw the pick to end the game. Then all the 500 yards he threw for meant literally NOTHING to me. Now, had he not thrown the pick and led the team to a win, then all of those yards would have meant something to me ONLY because they were wrapped up inside of a win. I am the fan who loved the SB blowout VS the Bills. Absolutely LOVED IT. Best game I ever watched bar none. My only consternation was wishing Leon Lett would have not show boated so he could have scored another TD and Dallas would still own the record for highest scoring SB ever with 59. But, if we had scored 52 on the Bills and they scored 53, it would be just another horrible loss by my Cowboys. All of those impressive stats would not matter to me.

I think it's possible to not care about the stat but still acknowledge that it's no small accomplishment to break into the top 25 all time list. But I do see what you're saying and why.

If you rank the problem areas (run offense, run defense, pass offense, pass defense, ST offense, and ST defense), passing offense is low on the list as for the reason we're 8-8.

I watched plenty of Marino games and he never was inconsistent like Dak is. NEVER. Having said that, he did at least go to a SB and win playoff games. If Dak never wins a SB he better put up insane career yards because without a title, that is the only way to the HOF.

Good post. Their hate blinds them to the fact that those so called garbage yards were Dak doing everything he could to try and make a comeback.

Losing games that 13, 12, 17 points were allowed isn't the O fault? Lets be honest neither the O or the D were great and equal blame can be laid on both, but not scoring TD's in the first half puts a great strain on the D , I would say the O was the bigger problem for just that reason but that doesn't fit some narratives of the great O machine that Dallas and Dak certainly are not. Beating the weak sisters and Losing to the scrubs with the division on the line scoring 9 points , 8-8 was a record that should have a asterisk by it just like so many of the stats.

He doesn't. Some posters just like talking gibberish about a player they personally don't like.

That's how it works on this board, get with it. Enjoy another year of hearing how great the stats were, just remember when the stats stunk it was everyone else's fault from the OL, RB, WR, TE, D gave up more than 9 points, HC, QB coach, STC, OC water-boy, refs , league conspiracy against Cowboys not at all the best QB in the NFL. You sir must be a hater.
