The defense has not been treated like a “red headed step child”. Jerry has handed out contract after contract to defensive players. Osa. Diggs. Bland. Smith. Mazi in the first. Taco in the first. LVE in the first.

The problem is they are average players to suckish players.

I think Prescott makes too much, but the fact of the matter is he, Aubrey and Pickens are the only reason we have any wins whatsoever. Without them we are 0-6 right now.

I said most of the $$ and the draft picks have been poured into the offense. Not all. Most.
I stand on that statement.

we can use the term freckle faced step child if that is a little more palatable .... either way--the defense hasn't been a top priority. Surrounding Dak with OL picks and WR talent has been the main priority. And of course--giving him the richest contract in NFL history as well.

He got pretty much everything he wanted. He doesn't get the excuses too.

And some weird people think that a defense made of guys who combined make about as much as Dak per year should somehow be carrying the team. They put most of the money and the draft picks in the offensive basket to make sure Dak had the "weapons" he needs to succeed. OL picks, WR picks, re- signing Cee Dee. etc., all of it was done to give Dak "what he needs".

If the defense is treated as a red headed stepchild, it's probably going to perform like one also.

Dak wanted the ego stroke of the all time record deal, and he got it. I know it was for the "brotherhood" but he got his deal, and along with that comes the higher standard and the lack of excuses.

Imagine thinking that a QB should be paid $60 million a year, but still need a litany of excuses and be totally exempt from any responsiblity for a loss. Talk about mental conditioning....

And he's totally unique... right? Doesn't Joe Burrow get paid about the same (5 million dollars less) at the expense of the defense?

QBs are just overpaid in general.... I think they're WAY overpriced myself..... it's the new norm in the league. It has definitely changed a lot since the 70s, and since the 90s. I don't like it, but he's definitely not paid substantially more than his peers. His contract is highest because it's the most recent.

You can say his peers are better. But that's subjective. A few of them are definitely better, but the majority can be argued.

Unfortunately, they don't really give out rewards for stats like that. If he Dak did get a medal or something, he'd def have to give all the credit to his defensive coordinator.

There is probably some truth to this. But Dak’s contract has nothing to do with the 2023 and 2024 drafts being terrible. The contact has nothing to do with the fact we have $40M a year tied up in two below average corners. The contact has nothing to do with the fact that we traded our best player right before the season started, without anyone to spend the savings on.

Yeah let’s blame it all on the guy with the big contract who is performing and not on the guys on defense with big contracts (Bland, Diggs, Osa, etc) who are not performing.

And when you finally do draft an elite defensive player, trade him to a different team. Let’s blame that on the QB too.

Bryce has a Top 3 running game. Panthers are a running team. They have a bad rep for their bad offense, but their running game is great. Highest offensive line spending in the league.... of course they're gonna have a great running game.

Dak needs maximum possessions. He had only 8 yesterday. Dak's strengths are when he gets 10+ possessions. He's extremely hard to beat like that. But if we play a running team who likes to shorten the amount of possessions, we almost have to stop the passing game. You can give up plays in the run.... but not in the pass. We were giving up plays to Bryce Young too. It wasn't just Rico Dowdle.
