Dak leads NFL in Total QBR

Then they need to adjust their rating system:

Stafford:
3,073/32 TDs/4 INTs

Prescott:
3,261/25 TDs/8 INTs

What in hades are they basing this on?
Maybe they are looking at how many times a QB is asked to make a positive play for his team and how many times he comes through? Dak is throwing it more.. He is having to work from behind more.. As great as Stafford has been playing he has NOT been asked to do as much to help his team as Dak has. Other components of his team have allowed him to just relax and play safe. I think Stafford is also 6th from the bottom in bad throw percentage. Dak as we know is #1. Again all of that goes into the hopper when they are trying to compute QBR. Scatter shooting it all over the yard and having the receivers bail you out counts against you in QBR though obviously it doesn't show up in passer rating. Or at least it's not immediately apparent.

@Nav22 beat me to posting one source. Here are two more:

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/6833215/explaining-statistics-total-quarterback-rating
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/17653521/how-total-qbr-calculated-explain-our-improved-qb-rating

It is subjective-driven, proprietary formula, unlike the NFL's dry, simple, definitive formula (here is a site that uses the latter's plug-and-play data).

It can be debated ESPN's method is superior to the NFL's. One thing is not questionable. ESPN created a statistic that tethers their 'insight' of the position to continual public scrutiny. In short, it is a perpetual clicks machine.

I’m pretty sure he’s being dinged for his rushing yards….

This doesn’t look right but it says he has 25 carries for -10 yards. If that’s true then yeah QBR factors in rushing. And it’s not like Dak is Lamar but -10 rushing yards I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone have that at this point in the season.

love to see it. i had my reservations on if he could continue to improve this late in his career w/ all the baggage associated, and i'm really happy that he's stepped up. hopefully it translates to some long overdue success
I hope this trend for Dak continues (including team wins over the next 9 games ;) ). Notwithstanding that, Daks improvement is not guaranteed to continue at this pace but we can all be optimistic that it will.

With that said, it is also an indictment on all of those fans who definitively state that X player cannot improve, cannot accomplish some task or outcome they haven't previously. As long as an opportunity exists, the possibility exists as well and I hope Dak proves everyone who doubted him wrong...not just for him, but for all Cowboys fans...because that means we are winning and most likely in the biggest games.

I can see adding value for rushing but dinging you for not is BS

If one guys does something that adds value to his team's chances of winning why would you not count that as a positive? I would not necessarily call it dinging the guy who doesn't do it but it is rewarding the guy who does. The fact that Dak and Mahomes have WAY more plays on which they are judged to have zero impact should be paid attention to. Dak had 60 some more than Stafford and Mahomes has 80 something more. Again these are plays on which the QB is expect to do something to help his team. Hitting a wide open receiver is weighted less than hitting a receiver with a DB hanging all over him. QBR tries to take the whole picture into account not just the raw numbers. So they actually have to watch the games and not the stat sheets. It's far from perfect but I have always thought it did a better job of evaluating QB play than just passer rating.

Dak has played better this year, more consistently. But he still has some of those deer in the headlights moments early in games.

At least recently he has shook it off earlier in games than he did earlier in his career. Some games Dak didn’t actually start playing football until the game was out of reach.

Kansas City he started right off with an int. But thankfully he got the bus back on the road instead of just running it all the way off the road, through the ditch, through the fence and off into the lake.
Dak's arm was hit by a defender as he was in his throwing motion and before he released the pass that was intercepted early in the game vs the Chiefs. To use that against him is either super lazy or agenda driven. Which is it?

Typically it doesn’t. Like I said guys like Goff and Dak don’t run. I think it’s the fact he has negative number. Which I’m confused on how he has 35 carries for negative yards. It’s not college so sacks don’t hurt your yards. That honestly doesn’t even seem correct.

Stafford must be one o dem old school kneel downers who takes a couple of steps back when kneeling down. If you watch Dak he makes it a point to get as close to the line of scrimmage as possible when he does it.

Yeah, and he had a should have been pick on the 2nd drive too. And then almost another on the FG drive where we went up 10. He needs to clean those up.

And guys need to stop fumbling too. We got fortunate late in both the Eagles and Chiefs games.

Which to me is not a good idea. You should step back and give more room. Because yardage means nothing; protecting the ball and making sure nothing happens means everything.

until he has a ring on the finger that is the way it should be for any QB
Yeah, and the "hater" does not know that I picked the Cowboys to win last week and the week before that and the week before that.

I’m gonna have to see because now I’m intrigued to see why he has so many negative yards at that many carries.

Very impressive.
