Dak Most Dangerous This Year?

https://sports.yahoo.com/article/cowboys-dak-prescott-most-dangerous-023744088.html

Another article in during the silly part of the NFL season. This one claims Dak has nothing to prove so he could at his best. It is almost and admission that Dak fails under pressure. I think there is something to that theory. Last year the pressure was proving he was worth that ridiculous contract Jerry gave him. We are a year past that so maybe that pressure is off...maybe.

The benchmark for Dak is not winning regular season games. We are past that. For him it is all about the post-season. If he flops again in the playoffs it will add another layer of cement to his reputation for failing in big spots.
Someone called me an up and down hater or something. I can HONESTLY see Dak having record numbers this year. Why? It seems like he has up and down seasons. Didn't play well last year, he'll come back and will be 2nd in MVP votes, in 2026, he'll be a turnover machine again!

This is an important season for Dak. If he doesn’t bounce back from last season and perform well or can’t stay healthy, then the Cowboys have to start seriously looking for someone to groom as his replacement at some point.

But how is that pressure? Is it pressure if you’ve been going through it for 10 years?
You'd have to ask Dak, but I assume he got a record contract and heard some noise. Then he tried to play up to his contract. He put that pressure on himself. This is just my theory. I have no idea why he looked terrible last season.

..yep, thats pretty much it. Gotta get over Post season blues.

On bright side, we can look forward Dak having good reg season.

I know you're to young to remember this but here is Steve Young's answer to your question.

Which goes back to me saying it depends on the person. Not everyone cares about getting the monkey off their back. Most of you guys told me Dak doesn’t care about winning but now he cares about his legacy?

He looks terrible the season before too. He starts seasons off slow. If he feels pressure it would be I imagine in the playoffs when it comes around.

Dak has already cemented his legacy.... and oddly enough, it is kind of in line with Jerrys:

"Greed is the excessive and selfish desire for more wealth, possessions, or power than one needs or deserves, often at the expense of others or ethical considerations. It's characterized by an insatiable craving for more, regardless of the consequences or the needs of others. "

His legacy isn’t cemented unless he retire this year.

Dak wants what he’s owed. I can’t knock anyone for that. Especially when it comes to taking it to a billionaire.

What he's 'owed'? Hell, he's in the 10th year of his career and we're still waiting for him to start earning what he's already been paid.

No. It goes back to you asking why a ten year vet would still feel pressure after ten years of feeling pressure. I quoted the post it went back to. Don't rabbit hole it.

Also, legacy isn't just about what the player wants. The football world gets their say. Even if Dak couldn't care less about his legacy he still will have a legacy.

And finally, Dak was just quoted as saying he is playing for the championship. There was a thread about it right here just this past week.

Quite clearly Dak does have something to prove. Even entering his tenth year as a pro, just like Young did.

When Dak got his 45 mil a season back in 2020 or 2021 he said that now was the time to go for a super bowl. He failed to fulfill that promise. September 2024 he got a 60 mil a season extension, and then played horribly for 8 games before limping off the field. Now he claims he's playing for the championship in an attempt to cement his legacy.

I ask you this - he's made the same promise of doing better or trying to go after a super bowl on numerous occasions and failed each time, so why should anyone take him seriously now? I think the guy just spews this crap in an attempt to keep the few fans he has left on his side. Everyone else knows better than to believe a single word of the crap that comes out of him mouth.

He got what he was owed. You see his salary. Just because other people took less doesn't mean the universe didn't give him what he was owed.

You can't jump into a conversation/debate that mean and Creeper have and when you miss out on everything that happened prior you claim to be getting caught in the "rabbit hole".

But since you clearly missed out on the post let me repost it so you don't fall in another rabbit hole due to incompentence.

I can hear the argument for why he has least pressure then other years but I mean he really doesn't. It depends on him. Does he want to win in the playoffs and be competitive? Does he care about legacy? If he does then yeah the pressure will always be on. It doesn't lighten up. If he doesn't care about winning or legacy then no there's nothing.

And regardless of how bad we've been over the years....that standard of a SB is still there. The legacy of the team is too rich for it not to be. But its about do they care. I honestly don't know. I can sit here and say as a man and a competitor I want to win. I don't care what it is. But when you get paid so much money I can't for sure say what these guys motivations are.

But i'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say these guys have made so much money that they have to want to win at some point. Who wants to be a forgotten legend or a forgotten player? Its 20 years of football of great Cowboys football players that meant nothing. I'd want to change that.

This is why we read before we "post reply".

I agree. Dak has always had that company man, platitudinal air about him when he speaks. He's smart enough to know what he should say, and he says it. A salesman selling hope.

I was just using Dak's own words to respond to tmc suggesting Dak might not even care about it.

You think Dak cares about his "legacy?" To quote Mike Tyson: "Legacy is just another word for ego."

He cashed in, has a loving family, exceeded expectations as a player, he's good.

I highly doubt he cares. But his fan club takes everything he says as gospel and are convinced he actually means all the things he says.

Exceeded expectations? Whose expectations and what were they? If raping Jerry for every penny he could get was his goal, he was overwhelmingly successful. Otherwise, he has failed miserably at fulfilling the expectations of fans and media who crave playoff success and super bowls.
