Dak needs a new agent

I think the Cowboys are being quite reasonable. Dak’s agent is being ridiculous and unfortunately is inflating Daks head in the process.

why would he possibly be anywhere near the highest paid QB ever?

Id like to think it’s not Dak, but I’m not entirely sure. How can he be about winning when the contract he wants will prevent building a winning team.

I feel I was so wrong about Daks character. It’s just sad.

In the 90's Leigh Steinberg was the top agent and it got to the point that he was demanding way to much for his players like France is doing now. But players started to pull the reigns in on him because of tactics he used and hard feelings that developed between players and their team so players started to fire him. Players started to realize that Steinberg was more interested in what the bottom line was and how much he would get than what was actually best for the player and team. A few years later he was no longer the top agent in fact he was completely out of the NFL but still had players in other sports and then a few years ago he said he was looking to get back into the NFL again.

I think what hearing from the Prescott camp is coming from France and not Prescott.

I read this post the other day and immediately thought... No Dak's agent is doing what he should be for his client. Getting him every penny.

But the more I think about it the more I think he is screwing this up for Dak. Let's just assume the $32M per year offer they made was legit. He turned it down and played for $2,025,000 this year. Missing out on Roughly $30M. Let's say they are shooting for $40M/yr. ($8M more than offered.) it will take him 4 years just to recoup that money IF he gets the 40M/yr. (I don't see a way he does) So, to me, the agent is failing him
that would have only happened if 2018 was his final year.

That 32 million a year deal would have been an extension, not a complete rework of his 2019 salary. He would have gotten some of the signing bonus in 2019 but his base salary wouldn't have been touched

No. That was Bob Sugar.

How do you know what Dak's agent and the Cowboys have talked about in the negotiation? How do we know which side, if either, is being reasonable or unreasonable? And where do we get that Dak expects to be the highest paid QB ever? The only thing I recall Dak ever saying himself is that he does not expect that.
Great questions.

Absurd? The contracts are in line with revenue. If there was no money to pay it wouldn't be paid. And people aren't laughing, they're angry about it, as if they don't know how industry works in this country. Wonder why that is.

Basically, this is just another thread about a fan being made uncomfortable by a pending multi-million dollar contract being negotiated and automatically blaming the future recipient with zero knowledge of actual negotiations. But yet the officials are biased, lol.
No joke. Aside from being strapped and not being able to make the improvements needed for a super bowl, no one should care a lick what players make.

I subscribe to the law of contrary opinions on this one.

If anything, the Eagles overpaying Wentz due to the "market value" paradigm and watching that team struggle mightily with their new shiny "franchise quarterback" making top dollar, only strengthens the Cowboys position.
Ditto the Rams, etc.

Why in the world would we want to make the same mistake the Eagles made, perhaps even compounding it by overpaying even more than they did?

Wentz isn’t overpaid. As more new contracts are signed the deal becomes a bargain. Salaries aren’t going down and Dallas isn’t getting Dak for less than 32 per year.

Agents push for the best deal that”s their job, No agent is turning down a deal, that comes from the player. And since agents make 3% of the contract they want to maximize the money but they have to be realistic or else their client never signs and they never get paid. Dak’s agent is pushing for what he and Dak think they are worth,

Then I hope Dallas isn’t getting Dak long term

he’s not worth $32 million a year, no matter what the “market” says

Compensation should be related to ability. Not “being a free agent at the right time”

And you know this, how?

why are so many people asking dumb questions?

Do you ever just take the time to read news?

Daks team is asking for $40 mil and highest paid QB ever. You don’t think that’s unreasonable.

Cowboys offered $32. You don’t think that’s reasonable?

Again, WHERE DID YOU GET THIS INFORMATION FROM? Please provide a link. And it better not be from Jane Slater who ever single Dallas reporter, including ESPN of all places, has ALREADY discredited.

No it was Leigh Steinberg. I watched him tell the story once when he was interviewed by Bob Costas.
.

No. It was Bob Sugar. Right after Jerry Maguire proved you don’t have to be a jerk to be a good agent. Don’t you remember?

Dak needs a new agent- a real estate agent; maybe one in Cleveland, New York, or Tampa Bay.

Jerry Maguire's inspiration was one of the most ruthless dudes in all of sports: Leigh Steinberg and that movie massaged his image much more than it should have.

The $40m is a rumor. You're treating hearsay as proof positive that Dak wants to bankrupt the Cowboys. That's very silly.

Worth is defined by the market. Your house is worth what someone is willing to pay not what you think it’s worth.
