IIRC, that wasn't really a quote from Cassell, but rather something an anonymous fan reported John Lynch having said Cassell told him at one point. I looked for the quote from Lynch and couldn't find it, though I'd be interested to see it in context if anyone finds it.

Even then, the fact that the staff was focusing on Weeden at that point isn't really all that surprising. Cassel's problem wasn't necessarily the playbook. He killed us with stupid decisions forcing balls into coverage and on those multiple pick-sixes into isolation on the sidelines. He was awful.
I don't know what the problem was with Cassell...but he always looked confused to me in his time with Dallas.

Cassel was the worst of the three. And you can't expect coaches to make players who lack ability into players with ability. All they can do is improve skills. Measure coaches on their ability to develop skills with players who have talent to begin with.
Agreed. Coaches also must recognize the skills availableand scheme to get the most out of what a player has to offer. I get your point..but these QB's are/ were good enough to make the NFL. They must have had something more to offer when they came to Dallas.

He said "fair" competition so im assuming hes referring to the fact Romo was hurt so Dak didn't really beat him out. Unfortunately most posters here in the Romo camp don't realize AVAILABILITY is a bigger asset than anything in football.
Combined with durability.

.Quit feeding the troll bruh. It's a no-win.
The poster stated Dak couldn't even beat Rodgers. Not Dak. I simply pointed out Dak CAN beat Rodgers. As in, there is actual physical proof he can. He did it. That's all. Dak was talking about Brady.

Not only that Dak came back from 21-3 down and tied the game twice.......defense lost the game and Dak had better numbers then Rodgers in the playoff game

Those same coaches had Weeden and Moore as well. I won't knock Cassel because he was asked to do something he shouldn't have been asked to. Dak deserves credit here. This staff out the gate had faith and didn't really give him much of a leash. Crazy for a rookie. Eagirls wouldn't let their leash go.

Dak absolutely deserves the lions share of the credit but there is enough to go around. All involved with Daks season get an ataboy from me.

slow down son. You coul dnt even beat Rodgers. Need some growing up 1st
Prescott has a certain look that crosses his face whenever someone asks him a baiting question. He sorta half turns his head in the direction the question came from and ever so slightly squints his eyes. It's a look that kinda suggests, "Did I really hear you say that?"

That same look crossed my face too--except after I read that.

everyone said if you start romo he'll just get hurt again. So why bother giving him a chance they said.

then dak can play if romo gets hurt. What's the big deal.

They scraped competitiveness and team in favor of their ego. They found dak in the fourth round and want the Cheap qb play. In a real training camp competition. A real blind look at things. I think romo easily outperforms dak. He just throws a better ball and scores more points.

Truthfully we could've played both. Let romo take less hits, run more plays and be less predictable(that pick GB got was gameplanning). There was no reason not to try it. Now look at us

You are absolutely right. Romo could have ran and saved games and drives with his legs like dak did. My mistake.

Funny thread. May I?

The Cowboys were caught off guard and never prepared after a bye week. This means NEVER. This is why I don't want bye weeks anymore, but I know we have to have them. They came out confused, didn't know where to line up, dropping passes, throwing errant throws, holding calls, not knowing who to cover, just totally confused as if they'd never played before. By the time they got their heads on straight, it was just a tad too late.

Young team, young coach, let's get this defense a little help and let's go at this again. They have all off season to get things straight. No more bull, it's time to go.
