Yeah I can't side with Dak here, that's just lazy. There were guys who would sign until everyone got a signature....what about a kid who thinks he has a Dak signature.

If he didn't know, fine. But if he did, its a horrible pathetic decision really. Everyone makes mistakes, but this one would be stealing people's hard earned money....just don't like it at all.

Another "bombshell" trotted out in the dead of the offseason. These next couple of weeks will be rampant with them. We are taking one authenticator's opinion and haven't heard the other side from this Panini (who are responsible the signatures authenticity) or Dak himself. It's not like a company is going to send box of cards to a player and say "Sign 'em and send 'em back, por favor". Surely, someone has to be present during that period to at least take photos or something, right? If not, this kind of stuff could happen.

But push comes to shove, I'd go with this is either BS or Dak had no knowledge of this. BTW, there was a slight difference between the two cards in that photo.

I've never asked for a signature in my life and I've known plenty of the athletes, couldn't ever see myself doing that.

I bought some alot of years ago when I was into that stuff just for decoration and it looked cool, but sold all of mine to Walmart.com really. Yeah it was that good of stuff that they sold it on their site, but really the deal is if your into that kinda stuff, its pretty offensive cause you lost alot of money cause he was just lazy.
Yeah.. Me too. Have known some famous, old time, fighters. They would laugh at this baloney. Probably have some boys sign for them. I mean, really, its BS. Who gives a shytt. Its worth nothing..but to a few sad losers. Ha!

If true and if Dak had knowledge that this was going on, that is a total dick move right there.

I have an autographed Troy Aikman rookie card and if I found out it was bootleg and not legit, I would be pissed about it, especially if Troy knew about it.

I am hoping this story is bs or at least Dak didn't know about it.

Who cares. Anyone insecure enough to ask for another persons signature...deserve whatever they get. Embarrassing at best. Why would anyone value someone else autogragh...its laughable..
it's not that for me at all. It's more nostalgic for me. it's the sentimental connection I have with my Hobby/pastime nothing more nothing less. I don't see these people greater than myself...I only respect what they do and it's a conversation piece for the history of my obsession from a small child which is football. I watched, I played through college, I coached for 17 years and I still call local middle school and HighSchool games to this day. there is no cure at this point. My last group I coached one kid now plays for Alabama. You will see a lot of him this year. BJ Emmons. I had to beg him to play in the beginning as he only wanted to play baseball.

So, does anyone have video of Dak at the machine, cackling evilly, while punching out the fakes?

If not, look into whoever tried to sell the balls.

They're trading cards he was paid by Panini to autograph. My understanding is that players sign an affidavit confirming they signed each one. Other companies force the players to sign in front of them. If you look on ebay, some of his autographed cards have sold for a few grand. IDK if those are the ones that are in question. For whatever reason, autographed cards with a limited print run sell for a crap ton more than random autographed stuff. Brady has autographed rookie cards that sell for about 18 grand in top condition.

It probably is a pain for players to sign all that crap, but they wouldn't do it if they weren't getting paid.

With all that being said, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Dak signed what he was sent and a Panini employee pulled a switch. We'll see what he says.

lol, serious click bait article.......This is done by virtually every sports figure save for live autograph signings or just random signing if you happen to spot them and they agree to sign whatever you can get their autograph.

Look at posters, baseball gloves, player cards, the list is endless...the players don't have the time sign every single piece of merchandise, poster etc that is related to them. People are really scratching for something to publish this time of year.

Autograph: A signature, especially that of a celebrity written as a memento for an admirer.

Signature: A person's name written in a distinctive way as a form of identification in authorizing a check or document or concluding a letter.

Notice that neither definition claim the name must be personally written by the person authorizing it as theirs.

In fact, the only person with the right to say it is not his authorized signature is Dak.

If he says that is his autograph then it is, in just the same way we get memos from our bosses, in the same way we file taxes electronically and press a button to authorize our "signature".

The statistics claim he is one of the most popular players today. How much time would he have to dedicate to signing autographs?

This is a non-issue created by those who understand the Cowboy's news power. You either love them or hate them, very few NFL fans overall are indifferent to them. They sell news.

If true that's pretty lame on Dak's part.
Probably
But that's not a violation of the CBA and he can't be suspended
The president can sign laws into effect with an auto pen
Though when you sale something it would be kinda crappy not to actually sign it yourself since that's what determines its value

Welcome to the NFL, Dak. Watch out for the land-mines, booby-traps, fake-news, gold-diggers,,, and don't ever talk to ESPN.

I've never been interested in getting autographs. As far as I'm concerned a celebrity's signature is no more valuable than mine. I also find it difficult to see the common sense in anyone paying thousands to get one. To me, it's much like fool's gold. I imagine it helps to be a collector to appreciate the value that a mere autographed item commands. Sorry but I can't get worked up over this issue at all. It strikes me like so much foolishness.
