Dak Prescott is starting ** Mega Thread **

Romo has dealt with having responsibility for running the offense and covering for the defense for a majority of his career. I hope this defense overachieves and doesnt put that pressure on dak.

If you look only at the offense though...ill go ahead and say there has never been a qb coming into a better situation than dak is right now.

you think there ends are not good? Pierre paul always does a great job against the run when we play them. They are 4 deep at end. They have two studs inside. They use collins like we used williams in 02 and 03. There backers are nothing special but in the scheme will get to play downhill.

If dak is not confused he will have opportunities. If he is confused we are going to get blown out.
Vernon is a player, not as good as his contract but a player. JPP is an unknown still because he's having to learn how to play with a significant handicap and frankly had been trending down badly before 2014. Their depth looks a lot like ours on paper, guys who have potential but so far zero production. They have one good proven DT and one DT that has to reestablish himself after injury. Their depth is a guy we cut last year and an UDFA rookie. Their DLine has potential but yes I'll take the unit with three all pro's on it over theirs. Maybe I'll be proven wrong but I'm guessing most on here and around football will probably be surprised if the Giants line wins the majority of the battles. And when they blitz if we control the line I do think Zeke is a good matchup in space against most LB and most CB/S.

Well, we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I just don't think our D will be near as bad as many on here think.
Would you care to explain why? I'm not saying I agree or disagree I would just like to read your reasoning as to why you think they won't be terrible

The thing is now , coaching staff has to put best game palns to suit the personnel , and D has to play their minds out , to be competetive, Dak needs to be protected well and should be asked to do decent things , not miracles. If so we will be in contention

Otherwise is going to be a long season

its a problem. right off the bat in week 1 he will have to face a defensive coordinator that blitzes from everywhere.

Dak will have to make adjustments and hopefully frederick will help also.

I hope he can handle it, personally because of the defense i think if dak started all year we would win between 2 to 4 games.

Someone is ging to find a way to make dak uncomfortable and then everyone will attack it.
2 to 4?

With this offense?

Please

Yep...not good. The fact so many delusional fans of this team think this kid is going to thrive is unfortunate. VERY high odds that he'll struggle. Love to be wrong though. Maybe he will be the next Dan Marino and light the league on fire.

How is 1985 treating you? You're gonna love the new century!

The table is set for almost any QB to succeed to some degree...if the right plays are called.
Give em hell, Dak

First, let me make it clear that in my opinion this IS Romo's team. I'm as enthusiastic about Dak as anyone, but losing Romo is just sickening to me.

Now, with that being said, I truly believe that Dak can at the very least keep our season alive. This is a rookie with poise and composure, who will be lining up with-

1) Arguably the best O line in the league.
2) HOF TE
3) Elite WR
4) VERY solid slot receiver.
5) Blue chip rookie RB.
6) VERY solid veteran RB to backup the guy mentioned above.
7) An offense that has proven they can be elite in the running game.

If any offense can provide an environment for a rookie QB to succeed in, I think it's this one. And I think Dak is the type of rookie who has the appropriate skill set and intangibles to succeed in said offense.

It's a weird situation to be in as a fan. Losing Romo makes me nauseous. But, I am more than a little curious to see how Dak looks behind our O line and with all of our other toys at his disposal.

Thoughts?

The same team minus Dak and Elliott won one game without Romo last year. I mean I'm hopeful but it's hard to envision two rookies coming in and changing everything.

It's great TV but there will be bumps.

It's a good thing j no longer rely on wins to enjoy watching this team.

Well for starters, the defense wasn't terrible last year. It was our offense that was pathetic, and the defense (while not terrible), wasn't going to win games for us on their own. They were put in an awful position.

Why I think they'll be better this year? Well, I think the combination of Byron's growth, Scandrick's return, Claiborne's improvement, and an underrated interior D line will make us more than serviceable (i.e., not terrible). I also think out offense will be better than it was last year, which will take some of the load off the D.

Horrible news we as Dallas fans received today.

But Dak has looked very impressive, poised and mature with a great arm and chemistry with our receivers.

He strikes me as someone who has had things thrown at him way more than an opposing defenses can .like losing his mother in college to cancer.

I witnessed my father die in his chair from a heart attack at 22 years of age with my wife who was 7 months pregnant at the time with what would have been his first grandbaby.

Let's just say it took a tremendous time to be even to function properly after that for several years..

Meanwhile Dakota goes out and up to this point is ranked number one in the preseason in several categories.

I'm going to support him 100%

It's not just two rookies. Our RB situation is so much better, overall, than it was last year. EE and Morris is infinitely better than any combo we trotted out in 2015.

And while it may sound crazy, Dak looks A LOT better in this offense than Moore, Weeden, or Cassel. Plus, he'll have a healthy Dez at his disposal from the get go.

When you say support...do you mean like starting a ********** page for when he is cut after 2 years...because we rushed him out there when he wasn't ready?

In that case...I'm gonna have to think about it.

How do I feel about it? Down right giddy!

You're about to witness a real leader and field general, who has an aura about him that will lift his teammates.

What we've seen in PS, will translate to the regular season.

Ten years ago I said Romo's preseason will translate to the regular season, I'm saying it again with Dak. Though this time Dak will be even greater.

They won 12 the year before
