Dak Prescott is starting ** Mega Thread **

Dont know if he's the future yet of course. If Dallas doesn't start dak week 1 unless romo can play week 1 i'm done with this season already not kidding.

He's easily the most promising qb we have had since romo. DO NOT bring in some vet trying to save this season!!!

Promising? It's preseason lol

The defense carried the team that year. They were second in yards allowed per drive and third in points allowed per drive.

No doubt that defense played well, but I think the offensive cast is significantly better than that offense was. Yet they still hung in games. Heck, it wasn't that different from what we have had from Romo in recent years....keep game close and get the ball last with a chance to win.

First, let me make it clear that in my opinion this IS Romo's team. I'm as enthusiastic about Dak as anyone, but losing Romo is just sickening to me.

Now, with that being said, I truly believe that Dak can at the very least keep our season alive. This is a rookie with poise and composure, who will be lining up with-

1) Arguably the best O line in the league.
2) HOF TE
3) Elite WR
4) VERY solid slot receiver.
5) Blue chip rookie RB.
6) VERY solid veteran RB to backup the guy mentioned above.
7) An offense that has proven they can be elite in the running game.

If any offense can provide an environment for a rookie QB to succeed in, I think it's this one. And I think Dak is the type of rookie who has the appropriate skill set and intangibles to succeed in said offense.

It's a weird situation to be in as a fan. Losing Romo makes me nauseous. But, I am more than a little curious to see how Dak looks behind our O line and with all of our other toys at his disposal.

Thoughts?

I think we should call him Dakman. He is a Super Hero, but not because of super powers...he has super cool toys!!!

The only wildcard is Garrett, will he help or hinder Dak. Garrett has been unable to win without Romo and that's not just last season but throughout his entire HC career. Romo makes this O work, he's the one who truly rallies the team, not Garrett.
On this I think Garrett just needs to back off and let Linahan run the show. I actually have faith left to his own devices, Linahan could make this work to the Cowboys benefit in a very big way.

Still unsure how good Linehan really is, how much of 2014 success was Linehan and how much was Romo.

Linehan doesn't even run his own system in Dallas. And his Detroit system was not RPO heavy in either case.

But, he has proven to figure out ways to get the best of the talent he has...and I think Dak can flourish in this offense given his surroundings.

I think he learned from last season that you can't do what they did with Weeden. If Garrett didn't learn, I think his bosses did.

From your post to Jerry's brain, I've got my fingers crossed.

Yall know that it was for Dak to perform in preseason because he was not the starter and the game had no meaning. Now he will be the starter in week 1 and the game will mean something which may have an affect on him mentally

I've long been a critic of our offensive style. The air Coryell timing passing. I've always hated it. Too complex and demanding a system and takes too long to develop.

I'm hoping that with someone as green as Dak, the coaching staff is forced to implement something a bit more conventional and quick hitting and his lack of experience becomes a blessing in disguise
That alone will determine success or failure.

Last year it was clear we panicked. Perhaps this year, even that small blip after Moore went down made the staff become a little more open minded. And the fact that Prescott has done so well gives them the confidence to craft game plans that are structured to play to win and not play to lose.

We traded in a Chevy for a Cadi-Dak-Dak-Dak-Dak-Dak-Dak....

Go Cowboys, bros. This is our year.
Did someone hack your account risen? I'm not used to this unbridled optimism. But I agree. Dak could not have stepped into a better offense to succeed.

I think that the offense will do just fine. Having Zeke and that running game will simplify the game. Dak's passing game is not the primary option but the complimentary option to the running game.

Can someone come up with a topic that wont result in someone taking a shot in the coaching staff?

Sure. Go into the off-topic zone and check out some of the threads. I think the movie thread is safe for your sensitivities.

Thanks to Dak, Dez Bryant and Beasley will have the best years of their career. For the first time in his career, Bryant will surpass 1,500 yards and Beasley will catch 60 balls.

Butler will also emerge as the third target.

Enjoy the fun
