This guy (a fan not expert) breaks down, in his opinion, Dak's top 5 throws.

Thought I would share this with you all. I know what some of you might say... his breakdown may be light or elementary, or maybe there are other throws that are better etc. etc. I know some of you on here can go deeper into a breakdown in terms of Dak's throws.

Be that as it may I still think this is worth a look and or discussion even if you disagree or maybe it can generate more detailed language about Dak's mechanics or maybe some of his weakspots? But I just thought I would share.
Whatever the case here it is.... the Plays start right off the bat in the video and the breakdown begins at 3:26.

(((Please this is not a topic to talk about Romo Vs Dak. Yes I know Romo throws better. But this is about our starting Rookie QB. There are plenty of threads with that topic already))))

Have at it zoners...

His arm strength is impressive. I like the dez TD vs the Steelers, avoided pressure and hit him in stride

no kidding. I'm not sure why this guy is learning so quick but I have a hunch a big part of it is because of a combo of the QB carousel that have helping him and he is a great platform.

no joke? sweet. any good and where? not that I will stalk ya. what position? sorry so many questions. small world.
Idk if you asking about me or him. But yea this is when I was living in MD. He was good, two sport guy (basketball & football). I don't remember much about the basketball because I played in too many different leagues but I'm almost certain he played CB on the football team that beat mine 3x in one season (7-6, 6-0, and 19-13 OT playoff game). I guess remember this post if we play the Giants

Philly TD:

Looks like Philly is playing a Cover 1 off man, it could be a Cover 3. They're bringing 5 and keeping the MLB as a QB spy in case Dak starts to run, FS playing middle of the field. Dak knows going to the center of the field is the most dangerous play, and he knows a sideline throw to Dez is going to be too much ground to cover. As the underneath routes are breaking to get the safeties attention, it's pitch and catch to Dez.

Pitt TD:

They line up in what looks like a Cover 3. It's hard to tell. Zone on the bottom, man up top on Dez. #22 playing outside leverage makes me think the FS is right up not too far off the screen. They bring pressure with 5, a double A gap blitz and the SS, OLB's drop into middle zone. Dez coverage was busted, FS out of position makes me think he was playing where I thought previously, didn't think Dak could recover and throw it that far. Dak sidesteps coverage, steps up, rocket for a TD

Packers TD

Looks like a Nickle Cover 2. Dak looked opposite field, and the safety 29 took a step forward, by that time it was over. Butler was torching the back end of the defense on a Go route. Dak sees Butler is already running past the safety and CB, if he just leads him its an easy TD. Safety wasn't even in the zip code.

49ers

The throw made it all. Just a simple curl route into the endzone with another under it. Butler got a little handsy on his break, might have gotten more space than he would have otherwise. But man, what a throw. Also a great play call. If you're playing goalline type defenses, you need to do whatever you can to insure you get some 1on1 matchups because there's so much congestion. You know there's going to be a lot of guys in coverage, and they had 7 on this play. The break and throw are going to make this throw happen and it did here.

Lions
This is funny because this looks like a Cover 3 Dime coverage. ie. 6 DB's. I can't really tell who's out there but 3rd and 14 so probably. This is usually a play the defense should absolutely win. Butler just runs a Go route. Once you see the CB covering Butler releasing him to the second level, the shallow safety come to pick up Witten, and the deep safety having the responsibility on a Go route on the other side of the field as well as Witten breaking the opposite way, he sees he has about a 1 second window where Butler is going to be completely and utterly wide open in that moment of hesitation by the deep safety.

Edit: Originally thought this was a Cover 2, but the way SS drives on Witten with FS behind made me change my mind.

Just breezed through it real quick. All of those but 1 were simple Go routes with good throws. I'd say against the Lions and Packers, Butler's speed really showed up and he really had success with those in these highlights. I think he probably is what he is at this point, but he has rapport with Dak, and i'm pretty sure he had another long throw from Dak in the preseason beating coverage on a Go. I'd definitely be tempted to resign him.

Touchdowns are probably going to be selected more frequently, but I thought this was among his best passes of the season. He dropped it in there perfectly IMO.

He had a throw in the Commanders game I really liked, on the move, he threw the ball slightly over the DB's head where only Dez could snag it. He threw a 4th down conversion pass to Beasley in the 49ers game that was nice, and there was one against the Bengals he put some zip on the ball and fit it right by a defender to Williams.

Those were NFL throws he'll be needing to make in the playoffs consistently. Let's see what he can do in a little over a week.

Hey, Zoners. I encourage everyone to donate to this guy's Go Fund Me. He makes the best fan videos, and it takes a lot of work. He's just trying to make a playoff game. The link is in the description. He's a really, really cool dude, and a HELL OF a musician. I donated, and invited him to our tailgate.

That's pretty cool. I'm sure there are probably some other throws you can put in there but those were 5 great throws. Dak had a lot of them this year.

there was one he made i think it was during the lions game. it was a pretty fast throw into tight coverage. i commented on how dangerous/risky of a throw it was when they showed the replay. couldnt believe this guy is a rookie making throws like that. it had a Romo zip to it. wish i could remember which one it was.

I'm going all the way back to the preseason game against the Dolphins. Under pressure, took a hit, threw a ball 65 yards and dimed it to Brice Butler.

It was not only a beautiful pass, but that was the moment for me when I realized this kid wasn't gonna be some flukey preseason warrior.
