I appreciate what PFF tried to do here to give Dak some kudos....I just get stuck on a couple of their points.

1)Simple offense....really? Is this more simple than throwing 16 passes 2 yards or under like Wentz did last week?
2) The play they diagrammed as being his best...it was a great play....but look at what they say, "Prescott processes quickly and eliminates Witten as a first option, getting to his second read, Dez Bryant, on a crosser, only to see the WR bottled up by the cover-1 hole player with his man in trail position. " How can we take this site seriously when they spin an obvious wide open Dez Bryant with a CB 2 yards behind him then watch the MLB completely obliterate and PI Dez in that statement is beyond me. Take a look...

Again, I do appreciate them trying to give him credit.

I've said that I think Wentz has had a better start to his season than Prescott.

That being said, PFF definitely seems to have a Wentz-lean in their analyses. They talk about dinging other QBs for short passes, etc and yet they don't seem to hold Wentz to the same standard. A couple of weeks ago they rated Rivers, who had a good game, fairly low contending that most of his passes were short passes, etc. But then praised Wentz even though his YPA was lower than Rivers'.

I think you are being a little sensitive for some strange reason, it's irrelevant what happens to Dez, the point is the QB correctly recognized it wasn't the place to go and looked elsewhere. Dez is right at the edge of the 5 yard area anyway.

It was at 6 or 7 yards. It should have been called a illegal chuck.

Not being sensative either...the description didn't match what actually happened...at all.

His red zone passing is the only area I would like to see real improvement. Tony can throw red zone TD's even when the defense knows what is coming, I think Dak can get there especially considering the threat of running the ball that he has that Tony doesn't. I would like to see them roll him out more in the red zone to freeze dB's and lb's in coverage. There are things Dak can do that we haven't had in a qb since Quincy.
You would think they would have him run some roll out option stuff. Danny White ran plays like that.

I think Dak has done really well. I have no issues with him right now. He's done exactly what I'd want, more so really, from our rookie back up QB.

The best thing he's done, and maybe this is a personal bias for me, is that he's ended any discussions or thoughts of that idiots Kellen Moore ever having another shot here. Thank God.

And Romo has a rating of almost 94 in the red zone per Pro Football Reference.

So I am not sure where this idea of Romo and the Cowboys scuffling in the red zone started.

I think people just expect to see a touchdown Everytime. I get annoyed as well with field goals but all teams come up short.

I think it's crucial that the Cowboys manufacture a complete book on getting into the end zone from the 10. It seems like we move the ball fairly easily up and down the field, but have issues punching it in. If we can find a thousand ways to get into the end zone, this includes making sure the line, or receivers have ZERO penalties down there, ZERO penalties, we can be a successful offensive team.

With all due respect Guru, @percyhoward's posts are pretty much ironclad on this board. He's amazing, call me a cheerleader, too, if you will.

It's just a given. Like plants need water and lions eat meat.
Like I said, from the link he sent Dallas was not top 5 in red zone touchdowns. He's free to come in here and correct me

I don't know if I'm making this up or not, but it seems to me we've always had trouble in the red zone under Garrett. Romo and Dez are great at the fade, but I recall Romo having to make many superhero plays to get into the endzone

Romo has said it himself. His biggest strength is his spatial awareness. He knows exactly where his receivers are at all times. That's why when he's running around like a squirrel on crack, he somehow finds some guy at the back of the endzone through traffic. There are very few QBs in this league who can do it and I'd question whether there's any QB who is as good at that as Romo is down there.
