They know they have time. This is the dance. Jerry is forced to tag Dak and then they get to the deal-making. Both sides know the approximate amount it will take. They just need to agree on the length of the deal. Not having the luxury of time anymore is what will fore these two sides make the deal. They already know they are stuck with one another.

This is just nuts. The longer they wait the more expensive it gets. They already gambled by not signing him before the beginning of last season and lost. I'm starting to wonder if the front office has other plans in motion, but then again we all know that is never the case.

    Click bait....

95% of the contract is complete... it's that 5% that "mysteriously" gets solved at deadline...

Of course to Dak Hater's this tweet/click bait is Parental & child negotiation....

We have grown Men at both ends of negotiation table!

To make an easier comparison. There are only 6 other teams who have a longer streak of failing to even reach a conference championship game: Bengals, Skins, Lions, Browns, Dolphins, and Bills. Those are not good teams to be in the company of. Those are not good organizations to be mentioned with and yet they are the company. No other team is close to the Cowobys number. The Cowboys streak is about as close to 1st (the Bengals) as it is to the next team on the list the Texans.

Ya and so are the Bengals fans and Browns fans etc., but it doesnt mean one should aspire to be one of the dregs of the NFL and yet that is the reality of what the organization has been in terms of success.

If you want to read all the quotes. Just seems a little lazy and unproductive

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...g-reach-deal-dak-prescott-avoid-franchise-tag

“I mean, Dak's our quarterback. He's our quarterback for the future and we have nothing but the greatest respect for him," Jones said. "He's a competitor. He's won a lot of football games for us. Obviously, he, like us, we all want to take that next step and get into a championship game and get to the big game and ultimately win a championship. So there's no thoughts like that."

Jones acknowledged the sides have not spoken since September, when the Cowboys thought they were closing in on an agreement that would have made Prescott among the top-five paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

"It just kind of stopped. We kind of left it where it was," Jones said. "I wouldn't say there was anything acrimonious. They felt they were done where they were. We felt like we were kind of where we were and we never really got going again."

Despite the inactivity, Jones believes a deal can be consummated before March 12, the final date in which the club can use the franchise tag. That is two days later than the original deadline because of the ongoing discussions with the NFL and the NFL Players Association on a new collective bargaining agreement. Jones said there are "a lot of moving parts," that go into negotiations when it is the final year of the CBA. With a new CBA, the Cowboys would lose the chance to use the franchise and transition tags but it would ease up some of the issues in getting a long-term deal completed.
