All I remember about last years back up QB's were how slow they were. Everything took so long back there to develop then it was followed up with a bad pass. Those back up QB's made the WR's look terrible. Here's hoping Dak makes them look good.

It's insane to me that we had veteran QBs here last year that looked completely lost in this offense so often. Yet, we have a rookie who comes in and looks like he's been in the same system for years.

Were they just dumb? Is Dak that smart? A combination of both?

This game has trap written all over it. Many people are completely overlooking San Francisco. I think that their defense can present a number of problems for the Cowboy offense - Jim O'Neil runs a 3-4 that presents a lot of looks, and they are pretty good up the middle (Bowman, Hodges, Reid and Bethea). On offense, I can see them running Carlos Hyde quite a bit at the soft underbelly of the Cowboy defense, and with the lack of pass rush, even a scrub like Blaine "Sunshine" Gabbert can find open targets. A guy like Torrey Smith is a receiver that can give the Cowboy corners fits - he's much faster than any of them.

Good post.

I agree-- this will be a tougher game than stats and rankings would indicate. I think SF stacks the box and blitzes the run and forces Dak to throw to beat them. Without Dez to take most of the attention and Reid more than likely neutralizing Witten-- there won't be easy passing windows.

This is a tough road game for Dak... I will be impressed and thrilled if he can lead Dallas to a win.

What Dak has that none of the others had last year is young strong legs. He in a lot of ways reminds me of a young Russell Wilson. He runs only when he has to, but when he has to he can scoot. I think he also seems (thus far) to have really good decision making skills. Be interesting on Sunday to see how he handles the additional pressure of not having Dez in the lineup.

As well as Dak has played these past 3 games, he is going to have to look deeper down field and take those shots. In all the highlights they are showing his passes are 10 to 15 yards, the majority of the time to Witten and Cole. Yes he threw a 21yarder to Cole on sunday. Hopefully we will start to see him going down the field. He has it, but I want him to shut up colin Cowdump who keeps talking about Dak is a short to mid range passer
Hey..

Guys like Joe Montana went to the HofF throwing short passes in the West Coast offense.

Cowturd is just trying to increase ratings with his bull.

Doesn't phase me.

DAK has had to prove a lot of critics they know jack.

Same here.

It's one of the things I like about him.

He seems to take negative opinions and feed off them.

My kind of player.

I know it's crazy to think of his command at this time of the offense. Without Dez, it's going to be a challenge for the young man, I think he rises!!

Yes Dez being out will be a huge test for Dak
This offense is already unimaginative and predictable with no deep threat now you take away the big target on the outside and that spells trouble against a good defense

You factor in our own terrible defense and this is not a good mixture

I thought everyone hated Dez, he doesn't run good routes and is a problem for the team? This board is so confusing. :omg:

No one "hates" Dez. That is just s straw man created by Dez homies. Dez is just not a top 10 WR but he is by far our best WR. Nothing wrong with saying we will miss him

Interesting. So there are 10 WR's you'd rather have over a healthy Dez? Name them?

I don't know about all this test stuff,,, as if we're going to determine if Dak is "the chosen one" based upon how he does in a hard game during his rookie year. We will not know for sure until he's got a couple years of improvement under his belt and opposing teams have examined and game planned him. Teams will figure out what his weaknesses are and the true indicator will be if he is able to overcome or minimize those weaknesses. RGIII and that moron Kaepernick are prime examples of prematurely anointed QBs. There are many more examples of QBs who struggled in their rookie year and then became awesome pro-bowlers.

For an offense that is unimaginative they sure as hell move the ball up and down the field quite a bit and with a rookie QB. As for deep balls give me a break if Dak is going through progression and see the open man down field he will take it but throwing deep and forcing balls is how you get beat. Dallas is running the ball, throwing the ball and moving it down the field but that is not good enough now people want Dallas to play stupid. There is nothing wrong with this offense or the system, it works just fine and like any other offense it comes down to executing it.

Ignored

Biggest bunch of nonsense ever seen posted.

Dak needs do go deep? We having problem scoring points or moving the ball? When scoring becomes a problem, then you can cry about going deep. Until then, enjoy the show!

Btw - Romo's passer rating was 79.9 last year... That's lifting the players around you?

But he was 3-0! He did nothing in the Philly win last season.

We start to show and prove on Sunday: Cowboys are the real dealer

Enjoy the ride!

I'm thinking we will see a multiple interception game from Dak. It is bound to happen sooner rather than later and SF has a good ball hawking secondary. Butler and Williams scare no one.

As long as we win, I don't care about interceptions. QBs throw them every week and virtually every game. Not throwing interceptions is an overrated accomplishment. If Dak goes all season without throwing one, that would be great, but we all know that won't happen. So let's remember not to overreact when he does.

Eh, people were saying this about the Bears as well.

San Fran is not a good team. That isn't changing. If we lose, it's because we'll shoot ourselves in the foot repeatedly, which is always possible.
