The Cowboys/Eagles rivalry will get more national attention this year because of TO, but they'll never top the Skins.

Cowboys v. Skins used to be the best rivalry until the mid 1990's. After that, the Cowboys dominated so much that it became more of a automatic W for the 'Boys.

If the Skins can build on their success against the 'Boys from last season then it may become an intense rivalry again, but for now, Cowboys v. Eagles is the main rivalry of the season.

so like the 8 or 9 years that you guys were dominating us has completely erased the intense rivarly that our 2 teams have had since the beginning of time???

About as stupid as some people's reading comprehension.

Since when did one of biggest rivalries become THE biggest rivalry?

The Eagles Philly rivalry is one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL particularly over the last decade. I wouldn't say it was above the Skins/Cowboys rivalry historically but in terms of intensity I would say it has been bigger over the past decade because ...

1. Up until last year, we owned the Skins. Except for diehard fans, this rivalry started becoming boring.

2. The Eagles had been the NFC East champions for the past four years prior to last year. And the Eagles were the team to beat.

3. We have played the Eagles twice in the playoffs, beating them 31-10 and 30-12 on our way to the Super Bowl. We haven't played the Skins in the playoffs since '82 when the Skins beat the Cowboys at RFK Stadium.

4. Bounty Bowl.

5. Jimmy Johnson vs. Buddy Ryan

6. Herschel Walker back for revenge.

7. Emmitt Smith vs. Andre Waters (remember, he said he was going to break Smith's legs.)

8. Snow ball blitz at Veteran Stadium (Jimmy Johnson gets pelted with snow balls exiting a tunnel at the stadium.)

9. Ray Rhodes vs. Barry Switzer (remember when Rhodes freaked out because Switzer said the Cowboys whipped the Eagles ARSES, and Rhodes took that as if Switzer had challenged his and the team's manhood?)

10. 4th and 1 Deja vu?

11. Miracle on Monday Night. (Eagles about to kick the game winning field goal, and it's either missed or botched, preserving a Dallas victory.)

12. Donovan McNabb and the 3-hour scramble.

13. The cheering of an injured Michael Irvin.

14. Roy Williams horse collaring TO, creating greater anomosity between Cowboys and Eagles fans.

15. Roy Williams singlehandly ending the Eagles hopes of victory and McNabb's season last year.

16. TO becomes a COWBOY.

The Boyz have been in more memorable and meaningful games against the Eagles over the past decade than they have been with the Commanders, though that may change now that Gibbs is back.

Well, it may have been a rivalry to you assuming you're a Skins fan and you had your tails handed to you by the Cowboys over the past several years. :D

The rivalry heated up from the Cowboys perspective after the Moss TDs and the drubbing the Skins gave the Cowboys last year.

Rivalries are only as heated as the stake's involved, especially with familiar foes.

The more on the line, the more intense the rivalry.

The thing that perserves the Commanders-Cowboys rivalry is the history. But other than that, the intensity ebbs and flows depending on who's dishing out the beatings and what's at stake when the games are played.

well considering Cowboys vs Eagles was the only Football rivarly King mentioned(listed Redsox vs Yankees, and Duke vs UNC), you can pretty much assume he thinks its bigger than Skins vs Cowboys.

Well I def. hated it how you guys beat us like what was it....14 straight?? but it wasnt like you guys were any good either, so it wasnt as bad as it could of been. If you guys sweep us every year for a few playoff or super bowl apperances, then it really would of chapped my ***.

not even close. The skins and Boys will always be heated.

By the way, thanks for joining the party, skins...it took you all long enough to get your **** together.

This year reminded me why I hate the skins soo damn much...I had started to feel sorry for them...they were like a turtle on its back.

Now, the arrogance is flowing and they suddenly think they own us just because of one fluke game and one good game on their part.

There was a time when the Cowboys had a rivalry with the Commanders, eagles, 49erds and others... but for the most part the Cowboys were their rivalry games and not the other way around...

We cant forget about the history thats behind our Dallas Cowboys. Making this Franchise so recognized around the world, so popular so everything. Dallas is all about Winning and has been thru out its history. We've had our bad times, like every team does. Take in consideration, The Commanders and Cowboys go way back, making this a tradition and for it to continue for years..maybe forever. Its simply a Classic.

I simply do not see the Eagles/Cowboys with the same eyes as with the Commanders. Yeah, its all about beatin the crap outta them, winning etc. nothing comes close to a Cowboys vs. Redksins classic.

Commanders / Cowboys rivalry is bigger. Thats easy.

And tyke, regarding your #1... Diehard fans is what makes a rivalry what it is. But I see your point.

Maybe because i was born and raised in PHILLY, but i think the EAGLES vs DALLAS is a much better and bigger rivalrie game. Being a Cowboys fan in philly during the late 70's, 80's and 90's was the best HELL you could hope for. It was really great to debeat and go back and forth with any eagles fan at that time. Bottom line is, the EAGLES never won a thing unlike the cowboys. You guys must not know how much EAGLES fans really hate the COWBOYS, make no mistake a good portion of it comes from respect also. if you guys get a chance listen to 610 wip radio during football season (listen now and you'll see).

I've never hated the Cowboys; in fact, I may have had some envy ...but not hate, distain or jealousy. To me the Commanders (I actually live in Commanders country), and the Cowboys were traditionally rivals.

Especially when the Cowboys mascot and the Commanders mascot went after each other ...kind of a melancholy take bake to the American Indian era, frontier plain battles.

The Eagles versus the Cowboys is more on the lines of a "grudge" game. For example ...last year the Cowboys spanked us, so quite naturally the Eagles are looking for some payback. Sprinkle some "TO" in the mix and you've got a good old fashion "grudge" game brewing!

As a long time fan, I considered how I view things today with all of the TO hoopla. I recognize that Dallas has long been the most hated team in the Philly area. Discussions on this board have pointed out that a rivalry needs competitive teams on both sides to really sustain that special feeling of animosity and provide the bragging rights for fans of the winning side. Until last year, it had been a long time since the skins were competitive. And, until last year, the Eagles had dominated everybody for some time. I believe Andy Reid actually made a special point of trying to rub it in against the Cowboys (can anyone say..onside kick).

I'm not sure any NFL rivalry can match regional college rivalries like Texas-OU, Ohio State-Michigan, and UCLA-USC. Players seem to move around too much for sustained animosity toward other players and coaches. But this year is going to be different and I think a change has occurred. TO does bring a new dimension to Eagles-Cowboys and both teams (players and coaches) are going to approach these games differently. The fans are going to view them differently as well.

For now, Eagles-Cowboys is definitely the bigger rivalry.

PT, grudge matches are what make rivalries.
