About as stupid as some people's reading comprehension.
Since when did
one of biggest rivalries become
THE biggest rivalry?
The Eagles Philly rivalry is one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL particularly over the last decade. I wouldn't say it was above the Skins/Cowboys rivalry historically but in terms of intensity I would say it has been bigger over the past decade because ...
1. Up until last year, we owned the Skins. Except for diehard fans, this rivalry started becoming boring.
2. The Eagles had been the NFC East champions for the past four years prior to last year. And the Eagles were the team to beat.
3. We have played the Eagles twice in the playoffs, beating them 31-10 and 30-12 on our way to the Super Bowl. We haven't played the Skins in the playoffs since '82 when the Skins beat the Cowboys at RFK Stadium.
4. Bounty Bowl.
5. Jimmy Johnson vs. Buddy Ryan
6. Herschel Walker back for revenge.
7. Emmitt Smith vs. Andre Waters (remember, he said he was going to break Smith's legs.)
8. Snow ball blitz at Veteran Stadium (Jimmy Johnson gets pelted with snow balls exiting a tunnel at the stadium.)
9. Ray Rhodes vs. Barry Switzer (remember when Rhodes freaked out because Switzer said the Cowboys whipped the Eagles ARSES, and Rhodes took that as if Switzer had challenged his and the team's manhood?)
10. 4th and 1 Deja vu?
11. Miracle on Monday Night. (Eagles about to kick the game winning field goal, and it's either missed or botched, preserving a Dallas victory.)
12. Donovan McNabb and the 3-hour scramble.
13. The cheering of an injured Michael Irvin.
14. Roy Williams horse collaring TO, creating greater anomosity between Cowboys and Eagles fans.
15. Roy Williams singlehandly ending the Eagles hopes of victory and McNabb's season last year.
16. TO becomes a COWBOY.
The Boyz have been in more memorable and meaningful games against the Eagles over the past decade than they have been with the Commanders, though that may change now that Gibbs is back.
