For me I have no preference of who wins the 5th WR spot, whoever can go out and show the most is what I care about. I posted the write up on Porter only because it was Cowboy news about a kid who turned heads day 1. He like the rest have to go out and prove themselves.

So what? Those guys have not proven anything. If he can beat out one of those guys in BOLD, he could become a player.

Just because you have not followed him, you, me, and the Pope don't know if he is a player.

Churn the roster, baby!

Honestly, it looks like Street is separating himself from that pack so it's down to who will get number 5.

He didn't at TCU. Are you willing to teach some guy from the waiver wire to do something he has no familiarity with?

I'm not willing to teach anyone on the Cowboys anything because I'm not a coach. But, just because someone has not done anything in College does not mean that his skills cannot be taught other skills in the NFL.

I agree, Street started camp slow but really has come on strong as of late. he needs to continue bringing it day in and day out.

David Porter is showing real promise of making some very nice backup strength at WR. Thanks, Denver!

Hi, David. Prepare to play about 1,000 snaps through the remainder of preseason, then we'll see ya later.

Thanks bro.

Hey guys, no need to be hopeful or excited about this fringe player. See above post.

Way to make a first impression
The reality is we have 3 or 4 wr's competing for one spot
A couple may be competing for a spot on the ps
Being able to contribute on special teams will sure give a guy some advantage
I'm not that concerned about kick returns, much more concerned with punt returns and that's a much harder skill to master
Our punt returner doesn't have to be a WR but we don't really have any db's or rb's with return skills so it appears right now it will be a WR
I think the top 4 guys are locked in and that leaves one so its going to be very interesting
We have most spots on the roster pretty much settled in reality
Really the question are the dline were you will have most of them actually getting lots of playing time and WR where if the 5th guy doesn't contribute on special teams he is not going to get very much playing time
The next couple of pre season games are going to determine those few spots left

We have a history with undrafted free agents at WR. Guys like Drew Pearson, Miles Austin and now Cole Beasley come to mind as undrafted FA's that flourished here. Also we have missed the boat on some guys like Danny Amendola and Andre Holmes. Hopefully we have found a keeper in Porter and if he's a player we manage to keep him. Having said that and having looked a his TCU's highlights he looks like your average possesion type receiver: avg size, avg speed and good hands. Hopefully he's got the heart to distinguish himself.

At least make the practice team and work on his skills there, if he can't make the team.

JJ Wilcox has some return ability.

JJ Wilcox has some return ability.

He returned kicks in college
He could be used there since we have depth there but kick returns don't worry me as much as punts and don't think he returned punts in college that I know of. About the only thing he didn't do

You could say the same about any of the guys behind Street. They are all in the same boat. They are out there working trying to show the coaches they belong. 1 will make the 53

5-11 and slow, so it'll come down to his route running abilities that helps him make the team. Good to hear he's making a great first impression though, that's a start.

So Denver cuts him before TC was over and now he is a star here?? So is Denver loaded at WR, or do our WR's just suck?

They didn't say he was a star. They said he made a great first impression. Why the need for exaggeration?

Did he really start slow or was the reporting just wrong?

Does it matter? He has been doing very good as of late and to me that is what matters, that and continuing to perform at a high level.
