Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but last night convinced me that we will win the East. Why?
1. Billy Davis. He is one of the worst D coordinators in the league. Last year, Dez toasted his press coverage/single high safety scheme at least three times. Did he learn? Hell no. Last night, three times in the game, even though Maxwell was getting toasted, he kept that same scheme against Juilo Jones while playing five yards off a no name guy on the other side. His inability to adjust cost him. His inability to adjust to Atlanta's O-line scheme in the first half gave Ryan all the time he needed. I was happy the Eagles hired him, because he simply isn't good.
2. Chip Kelly. His offense was tearing apart Atlanta in the second half...so he pulled a Coughlin with his play calling, lost his balls, and the game. What happened to the bold Chip? Third and one...you are getting yards off of every sweep and hitting almost every pass...why run straight into a stacked Atlanta front? And on fourth and one, you send out a still not healthy kicker? You run and get a yard, keep passing down the field and win. How do you get nearly 300 yards of offense in a half then go conservative with the game on the line???
I was impressed with Bradford. Once he shook off the rust, he showed he can sling it and take hits. He had at least three drops that were in his receiver's hands. He has weapons. But the people controlling the weapons from the sidelines screwed up.
I watched the game last with Eagle fans up here. As badly as they played in the first half, they still had the game won and blew it. It put a smile on my face to see those sad, sullen faces as the clock hit zero.
