LOL, everybody just assuming Dak is invincible and season ending injury is an impossibility. And who actually thinks that throwing love to another Cowboy quarterback is hating on Dak? That is some pretty weird logic.
Yes, I realize Romo would be the first option to an early season ending injury to Dak but what if it isn't season ending, what if Dak is out four to six weeks. Romo won't go back in just to return to the bench in a month. So far, Moore is the short term backup.
So how would this go?
Well, someone already made a reference to Jason Garrett as a backup. Does anybody remember the game he started on Thanksgiving day? They won.
Obviously, the gameplan wasn't to replace Troy with Jason and execute the same plays. Obviously, the gameplan would insure that Jason's performance would be less impactful. Well, when you have a future hall of Fame RB, the adjustment becomes rather obvious, doesn't it?
Emmitt carried the ball 32 times for 132 yards. Six of Jason's completions went to Emmitt as well for another 95 yards. Even Daryl Johnston had three carries, probably a career high. Jason Garrett was not spectacular, but he was efficient, playing within himself, getting the ball into the hands of the playmakers. That is what an intelligent quarterback with a strong background in football would do.
A real team with an absent star would elevate their game individual by individual and that is what the Cowboys did that day. They weren't playing any slouch either, that was a Favre led Packer team, he threw for four TD's.
This team could win with Kellen Moore under the same circumstances. he doesn't need to be great, just not stupid. Zeke and the O-line, with a few nicely timed throws to Dez, could do the rest.
