Smart guy who doesn't have the physical attributes for the game at this level. Moore is a lot like Jason Garrett as a backup, if Garrett had been several inches shorter and had an even weaker arm.

Garrett wishes he was half as smart as Moore when it comes to managing games. But hey...go ahead and laugh. I've watched Kellen now for over 9 seasons...and I can see his imprint on the game...from behind the scenes. The fly sweep..Kellen. Bubble screen..Kellen. Quick slants..Kellen. Deep clear out w/ the slot running underneath ...that was a Boise state staple.. Kellen. He has brought getting the ball out quickly to Dallas. There is no denying that. I'm still waiting for the 3 TE sets that were so effective in the redzone in Boise. Perhaps..that's this years new wrinkle...;)

Fact...Jason Garrett= book smart..Harvard. Kellen Moore...Football smart...Boise State. Big Difference.

This writer just doesn't get it. He never learn't a damn thing about last year's fail by resting starters that should have played the final game in Philly. Now he want's to rest starters in pre-season.

This type of insight, involves the nuts and bolts that go into the engine of the car...not degree of torque that is thrown against the rubber on the tires.

A well designed car is useful for a large variety of uses, but pure power destroys the engine, drive train, and bankbook.

Just go figure why that is good information on it's own. Maybe we should all, as implied through most of this run on of complaints...just show us trophy cases.

Oh, and for the record...I love the Mustang Cobra.

Yup..yet Garrett still gets a pass on that too. And then they come out completely flat vs GB. Just inexcusible...

Also a fact...Kellen still hasn't been able to beat out any QBs to be the starting QB of a professional football team.

He's gonna be a back up, yet again. But I guess the big mean world is still just holding him down unfairly.

Dear God we can only hope that Dak doesn't get dinged up and miss any kind of time, let alone significant time, if this is the option that they're going with at back up. The team will be completely screwed.

And poor Risen. Every day you can just see how pained he is that Dak did well. It just kills him.

He may not have the physical gifts that you'd like, I agree. To those that say he has a noodle arm.. I just don't see that.

You can't have all-pros at every starting position, let alone as back-ups...this guy isn't horrible as a QB if he is in there for limited duty...but, I think he will help Dak with the "book" part of the game...that cannot be understated

I like Moore as a back up

Lets remember the term 'back-up' QB. A player that fills in for the starting QB for a limited time. Kellens strength is his knowledge of offense. Kellen has proven he's a very capable QB at the college level indicated by some of the best college stats ever recorded. He's also proven, albeit limited basis, that he can lead an offense and make plays at the NFL level. As the ultimate team player, he wants Dak to be successful and relays his knowledge to him as Dak has stated. There is no animosity, the OC trust him, and he deserves a chance to prove he can be the backup. On the other hand..in the event (god forbid) Dak gets injured, I don't believe Kellen could lead us to a Super Bowl as a primary Starting QB. But if that's the reason people are hating on him, that's not fair and unrealistic. In the NFL, if your starter goes down, typically all SB hopes are lost. Rarely do you see senarios like Young fill-in for Montana, Brady fill-in for Bledsoe, etc.. see the pattern there? You'd have to have a future HOF as your back up.

I'm tempering my expectations for Kellen Moore until such time as he demonstrates he that guy who can "humble" a defense. Kellen's previous performances thus far have been mixed to be totally honest. The best comment I'm able to manage to muster in terms of being positive is simply that I wish him the best if he's required to perform, while uncomfortably praying to Almighty God that he'll succeed! :D

Remember..

Garrett was the guy convinced Weeden was a keeper, too.

A guy who knows the playbook is fine becuz Romo is gone.

But when the bullets fly..Kellen Moore checks down and doesn't move the ball downfield.

Just go back and review the only game he played for us.

The poor guy is never going to live down Jumbo's "Noodle Arm" moniker. Jumbo was right, but I always feel sorry for Kellen because EVERY thread about him has to include the noodle arm.

Smart is a good thing, especially for a QB, but it isn't enough on it's own.

I passed on buying an old beater/ sleeper ford step-side truck for $175 once ,it had 427 cobra jet heads slapped on a 429 block(you could punch it at 20 mph and start smoking rubber:lmao:
Those heads alone was worth $400 back then,,, the whole front end of that truck was trashed, a rolling death trap, though.

The engine could have been dropped into something else...but hindsight is always smarter. Back then, safe was probably smart.

Pretty sure I was between chariots and needed wheels with limited funds, think I ended up buying a 77 jeep Cherokee for $400 that saw a better part of its life delivering mail on the rural routes.

For $400 and a rural route, it had some miles...and dependable was necessary for deliveries.
