2:08 pm Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis didn't coach in the Washington game last night because he was undergoing an apendectomy at a Virginia hospital. DeCamillis' surgery was successful, and he's due back in Dallas today. Offensive assistant Wes Phillips handled the special teams.
2:03 pm The Dallas defense allowed 218 yards against the Commanders, the fewest all season and the fewest since the 205 it allowed at Cleveland on Sept. 7, 2008. Dallas did yield 218 yards at the New York Giants on Dec. 14 of last season.
1:57 pm For the second time this season, the Dallas Cowboys didn't allow the Commanders to score a touchdown. This season is the first in the history of the series that Washington has failed to score a touchdown in both games.
1:54 pm Cowboys WR Miles Austin's 92 yards against the Commanders gave him 1,230 yards for the season. That placed him eighth all-time in single-season receiving yards among undrafted NFL players.
12:59 am Cowboys coach Wade Phillips on making the playoffs: "Our first goal was to make the playoffs. Our guys were happy about that. But we also set a goal to win the division. So we're not overly excited."
12:59 am "I thought our guys played well overall. I was little disappointed in our short yardage offense, but all three phases played well." - Cowboys coach Wade Phillips on the 17-0 victory over the Commanders.
12:58 am Cowboys coach Wade Phillips confirmed that special teams coach Joe DeCamillis had appendicitis and missed the game
12:46 am "Tony [Romo ] put it in the perfect spot. It was a great call by Jason [Garrett]. A perfect pass on a perfect call." - TE Jason Witten on his career long 69 yard reception.
12:45 am "It was the exact same spot I missed from. I never thought about it as redemption. I am just thankful I have an opportunity to kick again." - K Shaun Suisham on the clinching field goal. He missed a clinching field goal against the Saints from the same spot with the Commanders.
12:35 am Cowboys owner Jerry Jones discussing his teams chances in the playoffs, now that the Saints and Vikings have come back down to earth: "Hey, we struggled against Tampa Bay. I see how you can be beat by any team in the NFL. I told that to the players tonight before the game."
