As camp in Oxnard winds to a close on Friday, the Dallas Cowboys will have endured nearly a month of summer practices and two preseason contests. Evaluating players at this early point is not a final verdict by any means. Dallas is known to be highly cautious with key veterans. Multiple rest days and sitting starters the first two exhibition games was expected. Nonetheless there’s still much that was learned from the practices in Oxnard.Especially with the ones who’ve shown real productivity. After numerous key players departed in free agency, several new faces claimed their star. It’s time to place an early grade on the top three new veteran additions.

Stephen Paea‘s camp performance is worthy of an “A”. Yet such high praise can only be earned by showing similar disruption against a preseason opponent. He’s hasn’t played in a game this summer, though that’ll change on Saturday. Cowboys fans should prepare to get excited over this explosive veteran. Fellow defensive tackle Maliek Collins used to be the only tackle who gave Pro Bowl linemen Travis Frederick and Zack Martin fits. That is until Paea joined the mix. I didn’t know a ton about Stephen Paea, and honestly, it’s not like I’ve done any research on him the last week, but wow, this dude is really impressive. How he has 2.0 sacks in 24 games the last two years, I can’t fathom.
