News: Dallas Cowboys: Is Damien Wilson an elite coverage linebacker?

This is that infamous third season, where we'll all be looking for long termed indicators on Wilson. Me, I'm expecting them...

I think he's definitely a player. Not worried about him at all.

I'm surprised just a bit that PFF has concluded Wilson's so good despite his relative inexperience, though it's nice to see anyhow. I'm hoping those good ratings are going to come in with great regularity this year. He's surely won the admiration of his LB coach, that's quite obvious. No doubt, he'll get a more generous sampling of plays to judge during the upcoming season. We're apparently about to find out if his praise is justified. I'm betting he'll do fine.

The NFL season is long and at some point everyone on the whole rostor will be called on to contribute.

Depth is precious and coveted. This is just another tip of the hat to the Front office

He has good short area quickness but he is slower than Hitchens trying to turn and run with people downfield.

The coaches only ask him to run short zones and more than half the time he presses the TE. Makes sense given he is only in on run downs. Further he was never manned up on TE. That was Jones doing that.

Anywho by virtue of him passing off anything farther than about 10 yards, combined with PFF's method of assigning coverage to the closest defender you are never going to see him give up anything longer than 10 yards pretty much ever by their metrics.

Frankly PFFs coverage stats are crap and should never be relied on for player evaluations.

He's about elite as David Irving. Both players have upside just got to see it on the field routinely.

Is he elite? Who knows..

Honestly the only thing I remember is blown coverage on CJ Spiller to lose a game in OT against the Saints a couple years back. I honestly can't think of any other plays he comes to the front of my mind on.

Honestly the only thing I remember is blown coverage on CJ Spiller to lose a game in OT against the Saints a couple years back. I honestly can't think of any other plays he comes to the front of my mind on.

I thought that was Barry Church?

He is one of the players I am definitely looking forward to seeing on the field in 2017. I really thought he played well back in 2016.

That was not his fault. Somebody got injured and went to the sideline instead of going down on the field to force a timeout.

Wilson came onto the field and the ball was snapped about 2 seconds later.
