Who would've known? Troy sounds like a Cowboys fan. I found this to be a great read and a great outlook on our season by Troy.

Aikman: "In that game, to have so many great performances by key people, I just don't think anyone should feel bad about that, and I sent Dak a text the other day and let him know how proud I was, not only of his performance [against Green Bay], but also the way that he's performed all year long. A quote that I gave on a radio show the other day was kind of taken out of context, was what I noticed on social media. I was asked if this season for the Cowboys was a disappointing season. I said, 'Well, the way in which the season ended was disappointing.' I mean, there's no one in that locker room that was not disappointed by what happened [against Green Bay].

I've always found the criticism of Aikman kind of silly.
In my opinion, some of the criticism he receives is reasonable but the bulk of it is... extreme. He's not unique in that way though.

Kind of is an understatement. It's like if he doesn't show his Cowboys boxers/briefs on air, we have fans complaining about his bias against us.

I think people just like to compare him to Emmitt and Irvin. Those guys can't help but light up when they talk about the Cowboys.

Troy can't due to his role and he's very good at it.

I do think he had resentment towards the organization for awhile. You could see why if you watch A Football Life. I am pretty sure he has confirmed rumors that he was considering coming out of retirement to play for the Eagles one season when McNabb got hurt.

Found that link confirming he almost went to the Eagles..

Aikman has always been and will always be a Cowboys fan. It's just that some people are too critical of him being too critical of the team.
To me it's not that he's too critical. It's that he goes out of his way to be critical during his calls. Everyone understands his history with the Cowboys. Nobody really expects him to show bias in favor of them during the games. To me it seems he goes so far trying to be impartial, it comes off as being overly critical.

What gets me is Troy has never said anything any more critical than what many fans post here. Troy will call it the way he sees it, I may not always agree with some of his opinions but I think Troy is honest in his assessment of teams and players. He clearly does not come off as a Homer like Irvin does but then Mike is not in the booth calling games as Troy does.

What people don't get is Aikman is critical because HE IS A FAN ... just as us regular schmo fans are critical .. however he also has to (unlike Irvin) over compensate as to not show bias to the cowboys and to appear neutral

I think most ex cowboy players are still fans of the team, but troy being a booth guy has to be not a fan in the booth.
He wanted dallas to beat GB and go to SB, and was a big fan of Dak.
And the end was disappointing to us all.
