Just my take but Jerry will have no problem offering him a long-term deal with these numbers ( $30.8m ). The question is whether or not Pickens and his agents think he's worth more than Spotrac's projected market value. If his evaluation is based on this year, then yes, he is probably worth more. However, the true value of contracts includes a total body of work (career), which means you have to consider the issues that made him available in the first place. In that case, $30.8m is correct TODAY. This, to me, comes down to two options.....
*Pickens signs a long-term deal at the current market value listed ( $30.8m)
*Pickens accepts the 2026 franchise tag ($28M), knowing he could get closer to $40M in 2027 with a clean ALL-PRO year in 2026. In other words, take the tag and bet on himself.

*****There is NO option for him NOT playing for the Cowboys in 2026, none.

George Pickens' projected contract, salary ranks in NFL's top 10 highest-paid WRs

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens is playing himself into a massive new contract, with his projected salary as an NFL free agent forcing a major decision for Dallas

There have been reports that the Cowboys are willing to use the franchise tag if they are unable to agree to a deal before the start of free agency. The franchise tag would allow the Cowboys to continue negotiating throughout the offseason.

According to Over the Cap, the projected franchise tag figure for a wide receiver in 2026 is $28.046 million. For Pickens' new deal, meanwhile, Spotrac projects Pickens could land a five-year, $153.7 million contract on the open market, which averages $30.8 million per year. That would make Pickens the sixth-highest-paid receiver in the league, per Over the Cap.

2026 season is the time to go all in....they have 2 1st rounders, the ability keep the team in tact and free up enough salary cap space to be players in FA.

No reason they cant be a top contender next year and Pickens has to be here for that to happen

We will soon find out how much George Pickens wants to be a Dallas Cowboy or go seek record pay elsewhere after the 2026 season.

Players hire Todd France and David M. when they want to get paid paid. Maybe Jerry will actually call the agent, maybe Pickens will instruct David not to go cutthroat on term and pay. But, to me, the writing is on the wall based off the agent the player has.

I'm sure he wants to be a Cowboy, but at a deal David M usually gets his clients. Pickens has played great here. Even when CDL was out, and potential wise he always had #1 ceiling, it was just his antics that dropped him in his draft class.

A ridiculous trade offer could be considered.

Pickens has Parsons agent negotiating his next contract. We can talk about Jerry being cheap or Pickens being greedy but there is no way Pickens plays on the tag next season. I do think Jerry will be careful what he says to the media but this will be another long hold out.

Hopefully Pickens wants the Ring to go along with the money. He has to know this team is so freaking close

Here he has been a star even when we were losing. Now were winning he is even a bigger star everybody loves him here and he likes the attention for now. I hope that he wants that ring and he knows we are close. That will make him a really big star.:)

Putting the tag on Pickens means we need to lock up Aubrey before he becomes a FA. So far we have been unsuccessful. Aubrey is 30 years old and this new contract could be his last. So he is going to go to the team that offers the most money.

I would rather lock up Pickens and tag Aubrey if we need to.

You don't tag a RFA kicker.

How much do you think Aubrey wants (France is his agent). He will be a restricted free agent next season. Aubrey isn’t going anywhere. He will get a first round tender.

Here are the highest-paid kickers salaries

Average is $6.4M .........doubt getting Aubrey signed long-term will be an issue or have much impact on Pickens deal

CD's contract was 4 years $136M or $34M a year. You think his agent is going to settle for less than that?
Picken has ONE clean year under his belt........as mentioned above, his value includes a full body of work, NOT just this year.

Micah had his eyes on the prettier girl even before negotiations. He is where he wanted to be. Right or wrong, that's the crux of it. As far as Pickens agent, he's loyal to himself not the players. He's shady. Yes folks, just like in any line of business, you have good and unsavory motives in action by human beings. If Pick wants to be here, he will make it known to his agent and he will be. I'm not worried. In Micahs case, how loud was he telling his agent hey, no matter what, I wanna remain in Dallas? My gut tells me he wasn't fighting all that much to stay here. He was chasing a bigger bag somewhere else. Micah could have easily went to his agent and told him get this done. But he clearly didn't.

Stop. Don’t start this again.

Being a Cowboy is not some privilege that players have to pay for. Those days are long, long, gone.

Why can’t the man just get paid market value by our owner and GM?

He has played four years on a rookie contract for employers he had no hand in choosing for wages he had no chance to negotiate in a marketplace where he wasn’t allowed to talk to any other prospective employers.

Now, after fulfilling his contract he has earned the opportunity to be a free agent and to do all of those things.

Unfortunately for him, the owners have the franchise tag which can prevent him from being a free agent agent for up to three more years.

That’s seven years of a man’s career where he has no say in anything at all and his only option is to just quit.

I will never understand why people resent these players for trying to do the best they can for themselves and their families.

Just an awful take, filled with your own personal resentment of players and your loyalty to ownership.

We all knew this was coming. The slander and misrepresentation of people just trying to make their way through their career and their life.

You folks should be ashamed.

How bad does a guy REALLY wanna stay on a team when he's asking for a trade, sulking on the sidelines, eating nachos, sleeping on the table in game? He was begging to be traded. It was all a ploy to get traded so he could play with his pals in GB. The trade worked out for all parties involved. Hopefully Pickens tells that agent to get a Dallas deal done. No shenanigans. No drama.
