Dallas Cowboys ON SI: Pickens' projected contract

Actually, I'm not, i'm making more statements, that's not arguing,

i'm saying I'm still here, where am I at, and you're replying as well, so don't be a hypocrite Why are you still replying why don't you just pass up the opportunity to say nothing in a reply?

But nice that you're making a dig on your very own actions while you think it's just criticizing me you're criticizing yourself because you're doing the same thing..NEXT.
Hypocrite? Still miss using words.

I'm with you Ronnie I think you try to offer him a deal that pays him more than T Higgins make him the highest paid second option receiver whether he believes he's a starter or not Lamb is already here There's a team that needs the money too to finish building the defense and what not..

There are starters out there only making 31 million that's why the tag is around 29 the problem here You cannot tag him with the purposes of making him play on the tag.

You should tag him with a first round tender and to avoid another circus online with this particular agent you should tell them they can seek trades tell the teams to come bring us offers that we can decide to either match or pass and take the 1st round pick but I would not want a George Pickens type of personality on my team playing on the tag being forced to be somewhere he didn't want to be that is not smart football in this case there are some guys that don't mind great leaders don't mind people who are betting on themselves like that guy number 4 on our team never had to go to be on these lanes he got hurt on the tag still got paid he took Jerry to the cleaners both contracts without saying a word

But I don't think in this case with that agent and that personality that you would want that on your team you would use the tag as a negotiating platform You'd really try to keep him here but you also let him seek trades But a first round tender works out for the Cowboys just as much just like Parsons sometimes you have to let guys walk..

So yes tag the guy to extend the negotiations to control the negotiations Listen to the offers but in no way shape or form would I make this guy play this year on the tag He will not be happy he will not be motivated we will get a worse version of Pittsburgh Steeler Pickens....
If he does that he would cost himself 10's of millions of dollars in the long run. He's got to be a bit of a boys scout if he wants top dollar.. The rest of this year and on into next year if he is tagged. If he pouts or acts like biatch his valuation WILL fall. Especially if his antics also cost him production. Or if it just reveals him to be a "me" player. Early in the season we all saw him jogging routes when he was not the #1 option and his effort in blocking in the run game earned Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks more playing time. Since the light bulb has come on not only has his own production skyrocketed but so has his level of effort. Now we see him running out his clear out routes.. we see him blocking for the backs.. We see his route tree picking up options.. He is becoming a more complete player which helps everyone involved. If he reverts back to "I need to git mines or I will pout" then nobody is offering him top WR money. You can't put a bunch of loafs on tape and demand top dollar. He would go the route of Moss and Owens and hop around from team to team. Making good money but never his true worth. .

He’ll sign with the Cowboys for more than $30 million per season.

Putting the tag on Pickens means we need to lock up Aubrey before he becomes a FA. So far we have been unsuccessful. Aubrey is 30 years old and this new contract could be his last. So he is going to go to the team that offers the most money.

I would rather lock up Pickens and tag Aubrey if we need to.
His last? Kickers go into their 40s. Hell you talking bout his last?

SI is predicting Pickens to make $30.8 million a season?

That would be a steal.

You’re looking at a guaranteed $35+ million a season and most likely $40+ million a season. Highest paid WR in the league. Yes, higher than Chase.

Pickins will get paid as a top 3 money maker at the WR position with his next contract. LOL at the concept of him wanting to stay in Dallas.

First of all, it's not a circus, we get it he has a flare for the dramatics, he doesn't mind drama... There isn't a camera he doesn't love or a mic he passes up on I get it.....
Sounds like a circus to most of us.

Especially when he *creates* drama and controversy. Self-admittedly so.

Said perfectly bro!!!!!
Do you really believe that Coogs? That GP should give a discount to team he’s played for less than a year?

How about “We’re about to see how serious Jerry is about keeping elite talent or if he will go bargain shopping in free agency once again.”

hey this sounds good too!!

Look at the talent we've assembled on this team this year, WHY not keep this up and go hard in free agency. Something has to give

When it comes to George does he want a big pay day, or does he want to stay in Dallas, it remains to be seen, the good thing we have is that we can franchise him

still yapping?!!.. wow, you won't stop ... We see who the issue really is...

it's hilarious you're hilarious and not in a good way.

Keep trying hard, you still not getting it.... But you gotta like the effort when you get tired of banging your head against the wall let me know..

Jerry has shown low character in his dealings for decades, going back to Emmitt.

Any agent or player not recognizing they what they are dealing with isn’t nefarious, it’s wisdom.
That's a ridiculous statement. Being a strong negotiator and understanding leverage doesn't equal low character. That's just good business.

Perhaps you haven’t been aware of how he treats players during negotiations. It goes beyond “being a strong negotiator.”

It’s his common practice to leak or create rumors about players to poison public sentiment. It’s a common pattern.

I'm simply responding to you. I know your type. What you're doing isn't going to work. You aren't smart enough.

Just my take but Jerry will have no problem offering him a long-term deal with these numbers ( $30.8m ). The question is whether or not Pickens and his agents think he's worth more than Spotrac's projected market value. If his evaluation is based on this year, then yes, he is probably worth more. However, the true value of contracts includes a total body of work (career), which means you have to consider the issues that made him available in the first place. In that case, $30.8m is correct TODAY. This, to me, comes down to two options.....
*Pickens signs a long-term deal at the current market value listed ( $30.8m)
*Pickens accepts the 2026 franchise tag ($28M), knowing he could get closer to $40M in 2027 with a clean ALL-PRO year in 2026. In other words, take the tag and bet on himself.

*****There is NO option for him NOT playing for the Cowboys in 2026, none.

George Pickens' projected contract, salary ranks in NFL's top 10 highest-paid WRs

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens is playing himself into a massive new contract, with his projected salary as an NFL free agent forcing a major decision for Dallas

There have been reports that the Cowboys are willing to use the franchise tag if they are unable to agree to a deal before the start of free agency. The franchise tag would allow the Cowboys to continue negotiating throughout the offseason.

According to Over the Cap, the projected franchise tag figure for a wide receiver in 2026 is $28.046 million. For Pickens' new deal, meanwhile, Spotrac projects Pickens could land a five-year, $153.7 million contract on the open market, which averages $30.8 million per year. That would make Pickens the sixth-highest-paid receiver in the league, per Over the Cap.
I'm starting to think that all these recent stories of George's value since he got to Texas is a way for the NFL to stick to JJ. The more George and his agents read, the more they think he deserves to be the top paid receiver in the NFL. In other words, the NFL doesn't want to see the Cowboys anywhere near another SB, as long as JJ is alive and kicking..........

I realize what you're saying, and normally that holds true, but why did it work for Parsons..

he became all those things in social media, His agent supported the circus, I know Jerry was involved, but they pushed it so far even Jerry had a line, he got his way, parsons was on the hook if he held out games it was going to be like over what 1.5 million per game missed, he was willing to do it,

jerry blinked and he traded him...

That's the thing, there's always an anomaly,

you remember Antonio Brown and Le'veon Bell, what they did to Pittsburgh ,I realized Le'veon Bell pretty much ruined his career doing it, but they can do it ,there are a handful of crazy players and I guarantee George Pickens and that agent are that type, you can tell he did it with Parsons, he's got the same type, if not crazier client, willing to do crazy things..

Like I said,

you want to see crazy, you remember the Reputation George was bringing him here, that's why we got him for a 3rd, he's been on his best behavior ,he's been playing great, but you start making him play for less money and forcing him to stay on a team ,and I guarantee he's not thinking about those things you listed up there, which would be common sense, but some dudes are born without common sense and what they have an agent who has a giant ego, and would support that lack of common sense ,sometimes it works, it literally just worked with Parsons forced his way off this team..

he got all the money he wanted green Bay, didn't care that he faked injuries, and that he was being a Giant Tool online, literally all that circus led him to everything he wanted.

But yeah if it was any other player ,maybe we could use common sense, and logic in this, but we see it with guys like Antonio Brown who by the way we realized was as crazy as we thought the man had pre CTE before he had real CTE, this man is willing to do it and Oh my God they came from the same place the irony here Pittsburgh Steelers,

That's where George Pickens came from, pittsburgh didn't want anything to do with him,

So what will he do it, will be a shock to me if he would agree to play on the franchise tag, he won't sign it to begin with, that will be the first play, that will be the posturing ,that we all started with Parsons, just refuse to come to the building, & the piece of paper or whatever they're doing nowadays it could be digital whatever it is, that's their first play is to not agree to be tagged...

yes, that would put him in limbo.

It might get negotiations moving, and maybe Jerry doesn't blink maybe he signs the tag with an agreement, that he will allow him to shop himself on a 1st round tender, and then see what kind of offers come in, and then Jerry decides whether it's worth matching which would show each side the value, a real true value, not an inflated one ,or not a lowball 1, but true value..

I Guess what I'm saying is that you they need to use the tag like it was originally thought ,like it extended negotiations ,it opened up negotiations, but it needs to lead to long term extension or a trade ,not make a guy play unhappy..

this is not Prescott we're talking about , this is a guy who might be willing to push the limits to get out...
