Dallas Cowboys: One last chance for Chaz Green
https://thelandryhat.com/2018/02/23/dallas-cowboys-one-last-chance-for-chaz-green/

...Unfortunately, Green’s poor performance that day sparked a three-game losing streak by the Cowboys and, for many, essentially ended his disappointing career in Dallas. Both Green, and backup tackle Byron Bell, allowed Falcons’ defensive end Adrian Clayborn to record an embarrassing 6.0 sacks and two forced fumbles in that season-changing game.

...Up to that point in his three-year career, Green had reserved his poor performances to the preseason. And when he was asked to fill-in for Smith during the regular season in the past, actually more than held his own. It was one of the reasons the Cowboys believed he could be a starter at left guard when the season started.

Prior to that game in Atlanta, Green’s biggest issue was simply staying healthy, as a hip injury has been a recurring theme. In the offseason, a shoulder injury slowed his transition from tackle to guard and delayed the Cowboys decision on whom would replace Ronald Leary in the starting lineup. Back surgery had ended his season early just the year before...

After the debacle in Atlanta, Chaz Green didn’t play a single offensive snap the rest of the season in Dallas. At this point, it is unclear if the Cowboys will even keep Green on the roster. But the 25-year old offensive lineman still has one year left on his rookie contract. And we’ve seen players step up and play their best football when their job is on the line. With an new offensive line coach now at the helm in Paul Alexander, this might be Green’s one last chance to save his NFL career.

I feel bad for Green but, No, No, No. Jason Garrett and Linehan ruined him mentally. They left him out their to sink or swim! We all saw what happened, except for maybe the 2 moron coaches that could have helped him. Don’t forget. He never played another snap the rest of the season after the Atlanta fiasco. Mentally ruined by coaches, he’s not that good, and he is always nicked up. No!

Man that 2015 draft was a disaster for us. Ouch!
1) Byron Jones: he has played and started but I would argue has been a bust and won’t be a Cowboy soon, at a minimum a huge disappointment not to mention Collins becoming a pro bowler and picked well after him
2) Randy Gregory, wow just epic fail
3) Chaz Green, bust
4) Damien Wilson, more likely to spend more time in jail than on the field, other players still available, Grady Jarrett, Stephon Diggs, Shan Mason, Jay Ajayi,
5) Ryan Russell, total bust
6) no pick
7) Mark Nzeocha, now a 49er
7) Lawrence Gibson, now a NYG
7) Geoff Swaim, good player

We’ve had some great drafts 2014, 2016, but we’ve had some awful ones too...2009, 2015...

green might actually be one of the worst 3rd round picks in dallas history....he couldnt block my 18 month old....complete waste of space on the 53 man roster and should likely be replaced before next season starts with either a draft pick or an UDFA, or a tackling dummy....bascially anything would be an upgrade

Bring him for camp. If he fails again, cull him out. Seems like little more than a warm body at this time.

They should put him next to a turnstile in off season and see which one slows down people more. If the turnstile wins, must cut.

But to his credit, it was really really stupid to have him train at guard last pre season.

With one year left on his rookie deal Green will certainly be in camp. But his replacement should be there also. Either via FA or in the draft. Same with Bell. If either beats out their competition then they have earned their spot on the 53. The main thing is they have competition for that spot and it isn't given to them.

2009, 2012, 2015, and 2018 will all go down as terrible. The rest just okay, unless Awuzie and Lewis turn into starting lockdown CBs

How many chances did he have to block someone in the Atlanta game and how many times did he actually succeed ?

Hand him his walking papers........................3rd round picks are expected to be healthy at the very least ; he isn't even capable of that...........

I can easily picture Chaz Green being shown the door if he's unable to perform significantly better in TC. His performance last year was really abysmal. It played a big role in starting the team's downward spiral. In fact, I'll be fairly disgruntled if he's retained yet another season. If any player is a greater force for losing than winning, he shouldn't be kept only to waste a roster spot.

The health issue alone is enough to say goodbye. If you cannot consistently count on a guy to be healthy and play, for whatever reason, eventually they lose value. When you have a guy who’s not healthy often AND doesn’t play well when healthy, I just don’t understand why there’s even a question of keeping him.
