I used to get it years ago because it kept you somewhat informed in the offseason. But with the advent of the net and message boards and such there is really little use for it.

Although most of the information in it is usual redundant by the time it comes out, it does usually contain a few good nuggets.

The Ask Parcells feature sometimes has some good information in it, and you can occasionally get more in-depth looks at lesser-known players.

It's been rare, but I have found more in-depth info from the Cowboys in it on some issues than has been made public through other media sources.

But it is mostly just the same stuff we get here, through the Cowboys Web site and through other sources.

I used to get it in Georgia. Problem was...I'd get this great magazine with all sorts of cool stuff on the game...2 days after said game was played. I called to complain and they said it was the postal services fault. Regardless, I canceled the subscription. Everyone is right - the internet has made that magazine (and almost all others magazines, frankly) obsolete.

Thanks to AL Gore for inventing the internet, I cancelled my subscription. I get more and better news much much faster now. Back in the day I got Pro Football Weekly, The Sporting News and the Cowboys Weekly. Now that money goes to my internet provider.

If you just love reading anything having to do with the Cowboys, then I'd say you won't be disappointed.

But the information is generally stale by the time you get it.

I subscribed to it about 12 years ago, right when the Cowboys were emerging as a Super Power in the NFL.

But as has been pointed out, that was before the Internet, and I would consume any reading material that mentioned the Cowboys.

I subscribed to it for a long time, but haven't for a while now...

The reason is quite simple, they couldn't get my magazine all the way from Dallas to my mailbox here in Virginia before the game on Sunday... I made many phone calls to their office trying to get this issue resolved, and frankly, they didn't do jack... and what flippin' good is a preview of that Sunday's game that arrives the following Monday or Tuesday??

The truth is, you can find info every bit as good as what they offer online...

I agree with some of these guys, most things can be found on the net.

And even more, most team publications are simply fluff. IMO.

Hey Cajun! What's up?

About the DCW the answer is maybe not, given all the faster info sources. But back in the 80s, it was priceless. I still subscribe for old times sake.

Agree with posts here who say with the advent of internet sites and publications on-line, the Weekly is more fluff and not necessary. I subscribed for many years, and let it go a few years ago. Haven't missed it at all. And I had similar complaints as others had about receiving some issues several days after the games, (stale).

If you subscribe, you also get access to the online version, so it wil give you a more timely read in that respect...

I haven't subscribed in years, but I did like it when I lived in Dallas. Of course I got it pretty quickly living locally at the time.

I have been subscribing to the DCW since the middle '70's and at one time had every back issue! Since I finally learned how to use a computer (got started in my early 60's) I now read everything about the Cowboys on line but I guess I am very sentimental as I still take the paper. Might stop this year. :(

It has it's advantages.

For example, When you have a sudden urge to go sit in your throne and you want to quickly grab some reading material to take with you. You just grab the magazine and run.

Otherwise, you would have to get online, search for a good story, print it.

By that time, it might be a little too late and you'll have other things to worry about.

:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

Seriously though, I agree with just about everyone. Most of the news will be old news by the time you get your weekly.

Gee. DF... you don't have a wireless connection and a laptop?

Get with the program! Brainpaint does most of his posting from the throne!

I used to be a subscriber and really enjoyed getting mine delivered to my door.Pre-internet ,it was the most excellent relief for my football Jones.Post internet I don't miss it,YET.Those years that were golden ,I still have every edition in pristine condition and when I am older than dirt and tellin' some youngin' about the glory days,my treasured season tickets meeting Troy,Michael,Novacek,Tui,Haley,Nate,Too Tall and well you all know the list,I can pull out those editions and let 'em
look at what life was like at the very birth of The Information Highway, which was Fathered by Al Gore at least in his mind.It was that, sports mags,am sports talk and long periods of extreme withdrawls. Now that I have a handle on my addiction,I use those to lure possible Cowboys fans into becoming addicts just like us.I have no mercy on little children of any age, boys or girls. They are all targets. My conscience will never bother me as I know I will have done the right thing. If I were say a Cardinal fan or a Texan fan, well frankly I think they should be registered .I have the right to know if people like that are in my neighboorhood.cowboys fans have infiltrated almost every corner of America and are easy to spot, the rest just kinda lurk around waiting hoping they can try to at least dominate the very stadium they call home.Wow sorry guys Whew, and to think I used to have NOTHING in the Off Season NOTHING.Better now Thanks.

I wish I was on the leading edge. :)

I know, I know, Pittiful, If I consider wireless, leading edge. :(

But, now that you mention it. It's a good reason to get one, Right?

I'll just have to run it by the wife. (no she doesn't wear the pants, only the wallet):D

I can already hear myself.

"Uh, honey. The guys at the Zone suggested I get a wireless laptop so when I need to go, I can take the laptop with me. So, I'm heading out to Best Buy! You wanna go?"

:lmao:
