Dallas Desperados

I went to my first Desperados game tonight and had a pretty good time. Last year I went to a New York Dragons game at the Nassau Coliseum. Our landlord gave us some free tickets from his job and we lucked into second row seats! Not bad for free tickets.

This time we sat in the nosebleeds, but the tickets were only $6 each so they weren't that bad, considering. Plus, the Desperados scored over 40 points so my wife and I got two free Papa Johns pizza, which kind of pays for the tickets.

The game was very high scoring, even by AFL standards - final score 80-79. It was very back and forth, especially in the last minute when the lead changed three or four times, then New Orleans scored on the final play to tie but decided to go for two (and the win) but were sacked to end the game.

Which was a good thing. The guy in front of us was a little tipsy when he showed up and had three more beers as the game went on. Let's just say by the end of the game he was a bit rowdy and going nuts after every play.

It is fun, though Dallas' PA guy got on all of our nerves by the end of the game. He sounds like Joe Buck if he was always shouting. MAKE SOME NOISE!!! THREE TWO ONE!!!

I like how Dallas is in the same division as NY and Philly. Gotta keep those natural rivalries intact.

It was also funny how during the National Anthem everytime the word 'star' was sung a small contingent of Dallas Stars fans would shout STAR! Gotta love that fans still exist here, somewhere.

Yeah it's a pretty entertaining product.

Would have been nice to see the Soul go back to the playoffs thisn year. Too bad we crapped the bed and lost 6 in a row after starting off 4-0. Graziani going down didn't help either. On a side note, I'll tell you what. The Souls' cheerleaders are AMAZING!

A couple of years ago the Grizzlies were trying to get our CEO to buy a box so they gave us one for the opening night, which just happened to be halloween, so I got a couple of tickets. It was pretty cool except it was in our old arena not the nice new fancy one we have now.
