1.Tried to franchise a unstable guy like Dez, which led to a late signing and a out of shape Dez,
and not ready for prime time Dez, which led to the injury.
2. Didnt sign Murray or Draft a RB, went cheap on the position
3. Cut didnt sign most of the guys on defense who got 1/2 of turnovers in 2014

By not keeping Murray or drafting a similar RB, this meant changes in the offense by coaches.
They could not just keep doing what they did in 2014, which worked well for them and Romo.

It wasnt that Murray was that great, it was that they had a good formula and chemistry, that worked,
That other teams feared.

E
ven though we lost to GB, and one could say we played poorly
in both PO games, it was the best showing by a dallas team in playoffs, in a long time.
We won the first game, even though sloppy and close, and played GB in GB a close game.

Now Dez, trying to franchise him was a huge mistake, you either do that and deal with how he acts, and then
let him go, or if you know you are going to keep him, which they did, just sign him early, in march and get it
done, over with, so you dont get him out of his groove, or get his mind thinking bad thoughts.

Just sign him, tell him he is greatest wr ever, and go to work Dez you the man.
The whole franchise thing , and contract disputes, just were not good for Dez from a mental standpoint,
and turned into him being overweight m out of shape, and not ready to play game 1.
With a guy like dez this was the worst thing they could have done.

Then the other defenders let go, I understand having to let players go, but did they even look at
who got the Turnovers in 2014 ??
Or were they judging by other standards, and just trying to get similar talent cheaper?

No. The giant mistake was signing Hardy. It created an environment where one guy was pretty much allowed to do whatever he wanted despite mediocre production. Jerry clearly overruled Garrett on that and it tore down a good bit of what JG had established the previous year.

Now if the Cowboys go to the SB or the nfc championship game , then I might say they made the right decisions, but
if they dont win a SB or even get to one, or even worse dont go to the nfc championship game, in the next 2 years,
then I have to say they screwed up with a team they had that was on the verge of going all the way to a SB.

If Murray doesnt fumble, if Martin blocks peppers better, if witten runs his route deeper, or JG doesnt call the TO, or if
Romo throws to beasely instead of dez on the 4th down, or if Dez make a clean catch, or the ruling was in our favor, Dallas
could have gone to SB, we had already beat seattle once, so it was possible.

They were close, and then the FO made some questionable decisions, and now they may not make it to a SB.

People say Murray wasnt worth the money, and maybe he wasnt, I know he wasnt a great RB, but he fit what
the cowboys do, and if they had signed him and some other things, and they won a SB in 15 or 16 would that have
made signing murray worth it?

And he is gone now , I am over that, and I hope they somehow get elliot, or another really good RB, and that dez can make a
comeback, but I dont have the confidence that this will lead to a SB.

Right now we have McF, who they sort of know what he can do now, but he used man blocking , or so I read here.
Morris is a unknown, and uses zone blocking.
So again the coaches will have to figure out how to use these guys, and it wont be the same as in 2014.
That was one reason to keep murray, as they knew what he could do, and how to use him, and they could have just
kept rolling with no guess work or experimenting.

Now if they get elliot, then that would change things, and it is possible they could go back to what they did in 2014.

Well you can add that in as another mistake, but had we kept murray, and romo doesnt get hurt, and neither does dez,
with a better offense, hardy might have looked much better than he did on essentially a losing team.

While I disageree with basically all three of your "mistakes" the loss of Romo and Dez had more to do with us not making the Super Bowl than anything.

We would never had a chance against Carolina anyways. Even if Romo and Dez were healthy.

Well that is a good point,Carolina was a monster , they blew away all the nfc teams, but
had we kept the 2014 team intact and just added defensive players, then they might have been able to handle Carolina.

I am saying had the 2014 team been kept together, they would have gone to SB in 2015 or 2016.
Now as it turns out , had we got past Carolina, and to SB could we have beat Denver ??
I dont know but with dallas a stronger run game might have fared better than NE who was mainly a passing team.
Same thing with Carolina, dallas with a strong grinding run game might do better than a passing team.

The if game is well known by other fans, whose team didn't win a SB last year too.

The mistakes, led to the injuries ?? lol some will never buy that, but that is how I see it.
And on top of that getting rid of several players, that had 1/2 of your Turnovers, and then wondering why your not
getting many turnovers, is kinda funny to me.

If Dez is signed early, he would have had mini camps, TC pre season, and be in shape, ready to go.
and if that had happened, he would be much less likely to get dehydrated in game one, and hurt his foot.
I think it all led to the injury, which also may have happened when he was dunking balls over the goal posts
when he first came to camp, it is possible he damaged his foot then, and then in the game 1 being tired and dehyrated,
hurt it more.
one thing does lead to another.

Garrett and Wilson not being able to coach up backup QB's and bad play calling = No playoffs + 4th pick..

true but the other teams did come close, and the key is when you come close, you have a short window to come back and
win it all, just like denver did.
They got to SB, got blown out embarrassed , but they were close, so they worked on getting better came back in 2 years and won.

I agree, the world really is square and after a team high level of total passing yardage and running yards, they fell off the end of the world...only due to the contract to Tony Romo, not over paying for Murray, and of course, the old crusty boxers group, including Hatcher, and Ware the previous season. Funny how rebuilding a cap picture works...but heck, one can't worry once he's fallen off the end of the world. Shucks, no wonder the team tried to defy gravity...that surely just sucked.

I'm really sure that Jason Garrett, before each and every game, told his team to just go out on the carpet and lose one for the 'ol Gipper.
