That's why these "keep" or "don't keep" conversations are meaningless. It's always, "how much would you be willing to pay to keep him around". I'd keep them all for the minimum. I'd let them all go if they insist on being the highest-paid at their position in the league.

That's a valid point.

Market prices will go far to determine who is retained and who isn't.

Dez Bryant: Stays
DeMarco Murray: Stays
Doug Free: Gone
Ronald Leary: Stays
Cole Beasley: Stays
Dwayne Harris: Gone
Jeremy Parnell: Stays
Defense:
Bruce Carter: Gone
Rolando McClain: Stays
Justin Durant: Stays
Henry Melton: Gone
Nick Hayden: Stays
Sterling Moore: Stays
George Selvie: Stays
Anthony Spencer: Stays

Some of the guys who I have stay on only means they will be on the 80 man roster going into camp they may not make the team. Hayden I could see getting a min. contract but not ensured of a job

Dez Bryant: Come on. We know Dez Bryant isn't going anywhere. He may get the franchise tag.
DeMarco Murray: The only way I could see DeMarco Murray staying on this team next year is if Dez gets a deal done and the team has the cap room to franchise him. But I doubt that's likely.
Doug Free: This one's tough. I think they'll offer him a modest, short contract extension. But that doesn't mean he'll take it.
Ronald Leary: Gets tendered high.
Cole Beasley: Ditto.
Dwayne Harris: They'll probably offer him something. He could opt for free agency.
Jeremy Parnell: I don't see Parnell getting a contract any different than the one he's been on unless the team expects him to replace Doug Free as a starter. I think it's more likely that both of them return than both of them leave, but I really think one of them stays, because that's most in line with the team's current philosophy. Parnell and Free could essentially be competing against each other to see who's willing to take a team-friendly contract that allows them to look for their long-term replacement in the draft.

Bruce Carter: This one's tricky. I think it depends on what happens the rest of the season. Maybe a one-year prove it deal.
Rolando McClain: There's no way McClain leaves Dallas at this rate. He and Lee will be the heart and soul of this defense.
Justin Durant: I imagine they'll try to retain Durant, but he's playing well and the league may take notice.
Henry Melton: Gone at his current rate. The only way I could possibly see Melton staying is if he signed on for another year near his current cap figure. It may be warranted based on production, but I still doubt that's very likely.
Nick Hayden: I could see Hayden staying on as a backup or a guy you take to camp, with little to no signing bonus. That said, he hasn't been terrible this year.
Sterling Moore: He's a guy you'd like to keep around at a reasonable price. This team is also pathetically thin at corner and Carr might not be here next year.
George Selvie: Could stay as a low-cost rotational player. Some team might try to recapture lightning in a bottle, though.
Anthony Spencer: Ditto. Selvie and Spencer will be the defense's offseason equivalent of Free and Parnell.

Beyond that, I think Carr will either take a paycut or be gone, and we're not more than two or three years away from looking at Witten's contract the way we did with Ware.

Also, in regards to Murray, I think there's a benefit to letting players walk at the height of their market value. Every overinflated contract a team enters into gives every other team a competitive advantage in terms of the salary cap.

Zack Martin is next year's RT. Parnell will only be retained at a backup's salary.

We will find a starting OG in the draft or FA.

If I'm GM…..
Dez Bryant: ABSOLUTELY MUST Re-sign or franchise.
DeMarco Murray: Probably Re-sign for a fair market deal, but I'd keep my eye on Adrian Peterson
Doug Free: Love to keep him but its going to have to be for cheap and he knows this is likely his last pro contract so I expect he'll be gone
Ronald Leary: Offer high RF tender.
Cole Beasley: Offer high RF tender.
Dwayne Harris: I think he's a casualty, as a receiving option he's now behind, Dez, TW, Witten, Esco, Beasley, Dunbar and next year he'll fall farther once Street starts getting some action. As much as I like him, he's a ST-only on our team.
Jeremy Parnell: Think we have to try to resign either Parnell or Free, can't punch a hole in the best unit in the league like that. Or you spend a top draft pick on a guard again and push Martin out to T. Keeping Free or Parnell is much better option and still draft a T in the mid-rounds for depth and future.
Clutts: Only for super cheap
Dunbar: Only for super cheap

Defense:
Bruce Carter: love to re-sign but i think he's a cap casualty. Think Hitchens and Durant can fill out the LB corps if Lee and Ro are back, frankly the third LBer won't really matter much with those two together and you don't overpay for LBers.
Rolando McClain: ABSOLUTELY MUST Re-sign or franchise. Brings a physicality to the D it hasn't had since t he 90s.
Justin Durant: Re-sign for a fair market price, I'm guessing his price is cheaper than Bruce Carter's and we keep Durant
Henry Melton: Bye.
Nick Hayden: Bye
Sterling Moore: Re-sign.
George Selvie: meh, keep if cheap
Anthony Spencer: I just can't give a 31+ yr old (Jan '15) a contract of substance, esp coming off a major knee surgery

I think there are other avenues regarding non-FAs that will have to be addressed, like Carr…who's cap hit is amongst the highest on the team.

interesting cap break down article here:

If we really do end up giving Murray 420+ touches (playoffs included), I definitely don't want to re-sign him for a fair market deal. Real bad history of guys coming off workloads like that.

Ro McClain has to be kept on this team. Period.

Dez is a must re-sign. That one is an easy decision.

Demarco is tougher as his price will be tough to fit into the cap. I don't see it.

If Free can be signed for 2 million per I think you take that deal.

Durant and Carter would be awesome to keep around. Can they fit them into the cap? I hope so.

Ditto for Dwayne Harris. Special teams ace and a weapon for the offense.

Hope Beasley can stay, too.

It's gonna be tough to pay all these guys. I look forward to a good cap break-down and estimates on contracts.

I don't get the Doug Free hate. I've been as down on him as anyone, but after how this line has performed and the way the young pups look at him, damn.

Because this is the same people who said we be at 8 -8 ! Even if we are winning the got to find a wart on the team... just sad that they call themselves fans!!

I prefer to enjoy what is happening right now than think about next offseason.

We have 4 mil right now that rolls over, the cap is going to go up, Romo and Witten's contracts are written to be restructured. Carr has no leverage to not take a pay cut because he won't have market value above an average starting CB.

We will have plenty of cap room.

You sign Dez and McClain.

You franchise tag Murray.

First round tender Leary, second round on Beasley and a 3rd on Moore and Dunbar.

Then it is take one of Carter/Durant, Spencer/Selvie and Free/Parnell.

Zach Martin might be best guard in football right now and he is rookie. I would keep him at guard and let him and Frederick continue to grow together.
