I love Tony, and have argued with many people over him (until I used their opinion on Tony to judge whether I would talk Cowboys with him/her).

If we are starting a new era, I want a new coach. I just don't think Garrett has what it takes to win a Super Bowl. If we got to a Super Bowl, he would out think himself right out of a win.

Also, getting out of his contract to build a great defense just seems like a sound decision. We won't build a defense good enough to get a ring with Romo, and it PISSES me off Garrett wasted a huge chunk of his career trying to learn how to coach.

isnt romo's cap $ too much to let him go? with Dak's salary the total cost of qb would be acceptable.

Get back to me when Dak is actually taking over games and not just managing them in a dink and dunk offense.

Until then, Romo is back next year with little to no debate.
We know you love you some Romo, poor guy. Sad day for you when he's cut next year. If it's not Dak, it will be someone else.

I was saying Dak has franchise QB potential before most on this board did. I was actually saying he looked like a great QB even before the draft while many here were saying they wanted nothing to do with him.

You can probably go to the draft zone and find my posts. This is not me hating on Dak at all. When someone comes to me and says we need to rid of Romo, a QB with one of the highest QB ratings in football history and holds most of every Cowboys record, you better damn well have someone ready to step up behind him.

Dak has played well and he will be our franchise QB at some point. But there is a reason we had to change the offense for him and why we cut down the playbook. He needs development, he is not there yet. So again, until he is taking over games and making teams fear every part of the field, it's Romo until Romo calls it quits.

He's not wrong. Dak has been dinking and dunking pretty much all four games. There's nothing wrong with that and he's done a great job managing the games without making mistakes, but the playbook opens up more when Romo is in. That's a fact. I don't think I've seen Dak take a shot down field past 20 yards yet this season. It's clear Linehan is trying to keep things simple for Dak, but he's going to have start taking some shots down field. Can't play it safe all the time.

Yeah. It's utterly ridiculous how things have gotten.

I'll have an honest debate with people on whether or not Romo can stay healthy. Okay. The last year he hasn't been able to stay healthy.

But the instant crowning of a new franchise QB for the next decade after only four games is a damn joke. I like Dak and have been surprised because he hasn't stunk up the joint like most rookies do at the start of their careers. The bottomline is that the wheels can come off just as quickly as people think they were put on.

Want....want....want. Sorry but we are not getting rid of Romo's contract anytime soon. We are also, not getting rid of Garrett anytime soon. You act as if we could have won Superbowls if we had another coach other than Garrett. We have been rebuilding the last 4 or 5 years and Garrett has been a big part of that.

The arrow is pointing upwards and whether it is Romo or Dak, Garrett will be the coach. I think he has had more to do with the arrow pointing upwards than is giving credit for, and that is in spite of Jerry Jones.

We are on the right track.

In other news in Dallas, the Cowboys may soon have themselves a bit of a quarterback controversy when the end of October arrives. Dak Prescott has been great through the first four games, but this is Tony Romo’s team.

“There’s no doubt that Tony Romo has been a hot topic for about a decade,” said Sturm. “Half the city loves the guy and the other half wants to see a little something before they put him up with the city’s other heroes. We’re talking wins in January and maybe the big one in February. He’s been a divisive sports figure in this city for a long time. Every time he can’t play, the guy that replaces him is flat out awful.

“That’s a really difficult cap situation. The Cowboys might actually move on from Romo next March. I think it’s a real possibility. The public is ok with that going in. It’s not everybody.”

The general status for the cap situation for the future...is already stable. These guys need to stick to their crystal balls and leave the continual soap operas out of their articles...

Dream on...dream on...DREAM ON...DREAM ON.

Looks like I offended you. Sorry I don't have your patience to wait around another 20 years to see if Garrett will finally figure out how to coach.

Why are you so sure about Romo's contract. Are you BFf's with Stephen Jones? I can't imagine a scenario where Stephen is willing to pay that much for an oft injured QB. At some point that has to be seriously looked at.

I tend to agree with this line of thinking. Dak has played great as a rookie, no doubt, but lets not act like this is the greatest show on turf out there.

Dallas is dead last in the NFL in pass plays over 20 yards.............Dak is captain check down right now and he has managed to beat 3 scrub teams that will most likely be picking in the top 10 in next year's draft.

Lets see what Dak does against playoff quality teams like the Bengals and Packers before we draw up Romo's release papers.

Dak is also second to last in completion percentage against the blitz. Whose the only QB worse? Blaine Gabbert. Dak is playing well and I think he is the future, but he has a long way to go.

Exactly.

The main reason we are 3-1 is because we are the number 2 rushing offense in the NFL (we are 21st passing offense, dead last in pass plays where the ball travels atleast 20 yards in the air).

Like I said, Dak has played outstanding for a rookie, but he is captain check down right now and does not stretch the field offensively. You can do this against trash teams like the 49ers and Bears, but when you play teams that are actually good it is going to a lot harder being one dimensional.

Ive been saying this for months. He'll be a designated June 1st cut. I think the team decided this towards the end of last season. This is why we tried (but failed due to others out manouvering us) to get a 1st round QB in the draft.

The decision is not Dak dependent - it was made before he was drafted. Taking a QB in the 1st round in 2017 was the fallback plan.

2016 is all about sweating Romo and Garretts contracts.
