A great comeback and opportunistic Cowboys in the second half.
Having said that, I was thinking, early on in the game, that our secondary was the weak link.

Now I am thinking that our inability to get to the QB is a continual problem for the 'Boys.
detail

We've been so close to sacks, yet opposing QBs keep getting first downs by passing.

I think our run defense is good to superb. Maybe the boys are doing such a good job at stopping the run that they are focused to spy and react to the RB rather than keep the QB honest.

And I am not seeing too many arms up to block passes, something that is fundamental.

Someone weigh in before I hurt myself. . . .

I agree completely. Our blitz packages need serious help or revamping. We are terrible at blitzing. It's a good thing that we are so good against the run and have T-New taking his guy on 1-1. Same with Glenn.

Blitzing with us is futile. We get a decent amount of pressure with just 4-5 guys, so I don't see why we even attempt to blitz. Delhomme has a quick release and beat some really close calls. He was certainly feeling pressure during the 2nd half.

Our blitzes are not effective. It almost seems we get a better pass rush with our base set because the QB has to hold on to the ball longer due to the better coverage.

Funny I saw Ellis get two sacks, forced a fumble, pressure led to Roy's pick.

I think Zimmers scheme is the problem but I agree. Whats the solution? lol. Thats the big question...

I believe that once Hatcher recovers from his injury he should replace Canty. Just my opinion, I believe hes done a much better job at pressuring the QB than Canty and Spears for that matter. But Spears has been playing consistent and good against the run.

The defense played well tonight, after the first quarter, but we still lack a good pass rush. Hopefully Hatcher will be able to give us something in the future when we go nickel or dime

Agreed....but I am talking about the blitz and how often we do it and just don't get there.

We don't get the actual sack. We'll get pressure on the QB alot of times only to have them throw long and get a first down on us. That is what is frustrating to me.

it doesn't help when you're playing the majority, if not all of the game, in a cover 2

What? That's absurd. Canty is an absolute beast in the running game. 3-4 DEs aren't sack machines.

We don't bring enough guys when we do blitz. If we just bring 5 guys (Ellis and Ware blitzing), that's not more than they can block. That gives them a man on a man plus a back to get anyone that might get through.

If we're going to blitz, we need to rush 6 at least.

For a team that sucks at blitzing, it sure forced Delhomme into some bad passes.

Yeah I know they arent sack machine, Ok maybe Hatcher shouldnt take over full time for him but they should split time 70-30 Canty-Hatcher.

Yeah I was looking at that game and said to myself, the pass rush MUST improve if the Boys' want to make it to the playoffs, they are putting too much pressure on the DB's to hold their coverage....

but BP still says he wants to see more from the front 7 in the pass-rush

idk if he's still saying the same thing after tonight, but still

We sent Burnett a couple of times forcing poor throws in the nickel.

We sent James last week from base and he caused a bad throw.

What people need to remember is we are 23 games into the 3-4, with a butt load of 1st and 2nd year players out there. We are starting to do more things.

I think we'll see a lot more pressure from a lot more players when Hatcher gets back and we get a few more games under our belts.

Starting the game with a lead would help too.

The one that scared me was the one that Keyshawn dropped the pass on that could have put Carolina up 21-0. I think that was an all out blitz, James and Roy were definitely sent.

Wasn't it 14-10 at the time, and I swear Williams was the safety coming over.

Anybody have a solution to upgrading the pass rush? Lol all I've read is a bunch of comments.
