You haven't seen players getting pulled out when they've already won games? You must not watch must football.

No I see many games where player will stay in, not to say there are situation where you pull them as Dallas did vs the Colts with a hugh lead. Dallas/Philly game was not that wide of a margin where Tony was going to get pulled out or Murray as far as that goes.

and Denver has been involved with a lot of blowout where Peyton does not come out. Damn if you want to blame the HC because of Murray finger be my guest. LOL

When a key starter is hurt in a game that is already won doing something that a backup is capable of doing, the coach is certainly at fault.

If the Cowboys were able to get a bye week, would you caution them against it. Would you say, you know what we need to win, so we can play in the wild card game... never been said before.. and highlights how absurd you are.

I have not said one way or another I fully expect Garrett to get this team ready to keep them in the normal frame of mind not vary what they do during the week and I expect come game time they will announce what they will do. If everyone will play or not if guys will be limited in their play or not. I trust our coaches know their team and know what they need to do to make sure they are ready. More so than a message board fan. Now claiming it was the coaches fault on Murray really tells me you don't know jack about this game Dallas coaches did nothing that is not done around the league but of course you know more than NFL coaches do you are a message board poster. LOL

Keep telling yourself. Game after game people have said to pull Murray earlier and to give him less carries, and the Cowboys haven't done it. Ultimately that came back to bite us. You want to give the cowboys coaches more credit than deserved. Yeah they've had a great year, they've also posted three straight 8 and 8 seasons.

You continue to make fallacious arguments. They aren't beyond reproach.

If your QB has a 114 passer rating, you have to be at or near the top by default.
Even if your defense had the worst passer rating against in the league--which they don't-- you'd probably still be in the top 7-8 in differential

That's pretty much accurate, yes. What gives me a lot of confidence going forward is how a high PRD correlates with winning a title.

Edit: I looked it up and if we had the worst Dpr in the league we'd be 18th. Which would probably lead to another 8-8 or 7-9 type year.

No evidence? Please check the record of teams coming off byes and tell me that there is no evidence...

Your argument is absent any substantial validity.

When you come off a bye your entire roster gets a week off.

You realize this isn't remotely true to sitting a few starters week 17.

Please tell me you realize this.

Osweiler has 8 attempts so he Manning has been taken out.

Garoppolo has 10 attempts, so likewise.

Weeden threw a pass against Jacksonville.

He laso threw a pass against Indy.

I am glad you brought up Brady however. Since his coach is going to play him in a game that means even less than our game this coming Sunday.

So according to many here we are lucky if we dont get the bye week. Otherwise we will be rusty?

The benefit of your entire roster sitting and getting rest is probably greater than any rust that might be induced into a few key operators.

Everyone please stop equating sitting a few starters to getting a team bye.

Which doesn't really support the point I was responding to.

If a lot of the guys on the team have to play anyway, where does the "rust" argument come in?

Probably because you're sitting your most important operators who have the biggest influence on the game? If Hitchins shows a bit of "rust" would you notice? If Romo does...

Your starters getting to rest during the bye is the most important factor of the bye... please tell me you realize this.

Context matters. These QBs were pulled in the 4th quarter.

Weeden threw a pass against Indy in a blowout and was appropriately replacing Romo.

Please tell me you realize that we start 22 starters and there is no way they are all getting rest.

Please tell me you realize that on the defensive (specifically our defensive line but also some in our lb core) we have nominal starters and snaps are shared and so there is no way to really rest the 11 on that side.

Please tell me you realize the limitations of a 53 man roster with 46 active players.

What are you trying to say here?

Also if you reference Brady you need to reference the fact that he is playing Sunday.

After the bye this season Romo went 18/26 for 275 yards and 4 TDs against the Giants.

I'm thinking a week off doesn't really affect his overall performance at this point in his career.

And trying to rationalize that a LBer - Hitchens or McClain - is going to get rusty after a week off in a 17 week season is ludicrous too.

It's a week off, not a month.

Do people worry about all of these rust issues during the regular season bye? Because most everyone usually approaches that as a chance to get rested and healthy. Why is this different?

Also, if two weeks not playing is such a problem, why do teams even want the bye in the playoffs?

I don't think a bye and taking your foot off the pedal in the final game of the season are the same thing. Sometimes when you hit the off switch it's hard for a team to find it again. I'm not defending one side or the other, I'm just pointing out there is more to the decision than people think. It's a delicate issue that I don't know the answer to. It seems the best in the business, after years to ponder a solution, aren't unified on what's best either.
