Dallas needs more speed on the field

With Crayton, Witten, Williams and Barber on the field at the same time Dallas does not have speed to threaten a defense. I would make sure that either Austin or Jones is on the field more. Maybe starting Austin or Jones when he is healthy will help.

You have to be able to back the safeties off for the run and when they move up you have to get behind them with speed. The only players on Dallas that can do that are Austin and Jones.

If a deal can be made to grab Crabtree at this point pull the trigger because the window for this team is closing as fast as the offensive line ages.

Dallas' defense's problem isn't speed, we just can't tackle. Felix Jones will help for sure, but our problem isn't that we're too slow.

I was talking about their offense. I didn't say anything about defensive team speed. Look at the starting 4 playmakers on offense. None of them are bad, but Williams, Crayton, Barber and Witten are average or worse in the speed department. Does any one of them make a DB immediately backpedal or back the safeties off the line of scrimmage?

It is either get some more speed on the field or play smashmouth which I don't think Jerruh will like or Garrett is capable of doing.

You have an argument with Roy Williams and Crayton, but Barber and Witten? If they were playing poor, sure.

Yo mmillman, I'm really happy for ya and I'mma let you finish, but Marion Barber's one of the best players ON THE TEAM. >_<

Isn't this why Miles Austin is here? Just start sending him deep all the time. Safeties will have to respect it.

Running good routes paired with timing breaks and QB play makes up for lack of speed.

The problems with this team are all mental. They are not lacking in the athletic department.

What we need is for our OC to step up and do his job better. If he'll do that, and the players pick it up a bit as well, then we'd be just fine on offense.

Williams is plenty fast,it's just that it's straightline speed and he's a long strider. If you get the ball to Roy in stride he can move pretty good.Something else to consider, getting deep has alot to do with technique,it's not entirely about pure speed although it helps.Austin is basically the same type of player that Williams is,he may be slightly faster.

Crayton is better suited playing in the slot,he's more quick than fast.Hurd is a possession type receiver who lacks a big frame.Ogletree is an unknown, potential is just that unless/until you produce.

Witten is the best all around tight end in the league, but he cannot run with a pass catching tight end like a Gates or Winslow Jr./Vernon Davis.Bennett has more speed but needs to shut down MartyBTV until he learns the playbook or whatever is holding him back.

Barber is a pounder who can soften up a defense and he plays with emotion.Felix is not the fastest guy out there,he just can make moves that most backs can't.Felix has something you can't teach,a feel for the game if you will.Choice is a good role player,he will do whatever you ask of him.

Seems to me that they have enough pieces to compete. The coaching staff just needs to put the players in a better situation to succeed by adjusting some of the play calls. The players just need to execute the game plan, quit having stupid penalties that negate positive plays. If this team can do these two things this offense will start to click, they have the pieces.

If you want to talk about a team with no team speed,go back and look at this team when Billy Davis was trying to be a starting receiver.

One of the saddest sights I'd seen in the game the other night was Crayton running full speed ahead, and the corner jogging right next to him.

Raiders WRs have speed... speed's not everything.

I hate keyshawn, but for a guy that wasn't very fast, he ran nearly perfect routes and caught almost everything thrown to him. I'd settle for that on a consistant basis right now over speed.

We need to put our UDFA WR in there and let him make big plays.
I'm anxious to see him in there as well because it looks to me like he is one of our receivers that may be able to get quick separation.

I don't completely trust our coaching staff to make good personnel decisions. Last year most of the people on the Zone wanted to see Tashard Choice get some carries. He only got them after Thanksgiving when Barber got hurt and then they acted suprised by what he could do. Maybe we have the same situation here with Kevin Ogletree.

It's not always about speed. The Ravens have a bunch of mediocre WR's except for D. Mason and they seem to be managing quite well.

Romo just does a terrible job of getting the receivers the ball.

I think we need to just start out by getting the ball in someones hands. We don't need to run 15 yard routes with every receiver we have.

Lets just do some simple stuff that allows guys like Roy Williams to catch a ball and force people to tackle him.

Lets hit people quick and then eventually set up the downfield throws.

Against these blitz happy teams I would love to see someone on a drag route on almost every single snap.
