Goodell is holding a grudge against Payton for BountyGate and against Jerry for the sponsorship lawsuit.. Having both men in one town would be a dream come true for Goodell.. He'd only have to screw over one team every year.
And don't forget Dak's comment about fans throwing things at the refs.

According to Undisputed, the Cowboys and Payton had a deal in place in 2019, but it fell through.

Can anyone here confirm this?

Eventually landing Sean Payton would be a comfortable fit for our Boys. Here's some food for thought... Payton has a SB ring, but the Saints fall apart in the playoffs just like some other team we know.... (So, maybe a perfect fit for Jerry?). New Orleans had just three postseason wins while going 49-15 during the regular season from 2017 through 2020. And Payton had a Hall of Fame quarterback in Drew Brees vs coming here expecting to win with Dak.
This fits the category of doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Sorry, but should have struck when the iron was hot…he ain’t waiting around for a year…he will be with FOX and If Quinn has even an average year, he will be our HC. Always a bridesmaid!!!

Jerry probably thinks he’ll keep Quinn, let McCarthy build the roster and then jettison MCarthy and Moore as he gets a 2 fer with Payton as Hc and playcaller, not to mention any QB coaching he can impart to Dak.
