I know what I saw last night...and I saw a QB who showed some immaturity by not knowing how to stop the bleeding. I still think Romo will be a good/excellent player...but Dallas needs to see if this meltdown was a one game deal...or something that happens thru the course of this season. Romo will have some very difficult games on the road in hostile environments (at philly, washington and NY). Lets see how he handles those situations before we start talking about backing up the truck and giving him 10+ million a year.

PS. sorry for the misspelling of cautious

Um, last I saw, he won the game. Bounced back when it was needed. I think you have to give the Bils some credit for the game they played.

Any road game in the NFL is tough. Romo had a bad night, but managed to win it. Not many QB's in the league that wouldn;t have crawled into a shell after 6 turnovers. Romo stayed with it and pulled it out.

He is not Brady or Manning, sure, but who else is better? Palmer? Brees? McFlab?

No question about it. We live in a microwave, instant success society. There is nothing wrong with being patient. Jerry said before the season that he wanted to see Romo through this entire season and that at the end of that time Romo would have 30+ games under his belt to base the evaluation upon. That is smart business.

Jerry is willing to pay the huge bucks if Romo proves over the course of a season and the playoffs that he can get it done. But if Romo pulls another performance like that in the playoffs, his leverage in the negotiations will be compromised.

Okay Wood, are you really Steve Young? That is exactly what Young said after the game.

It reminded me of the 2001 game at the Giants. The one where Clint Stoerner was leading Dallas through a good game. He then lost it. He kept throwing critical interceptions(4) and could not stop the bleeding. He was pulled for Ryan Leaf and Dallas lost.

Romo did stop the bleeding eventually. It was just a poor game for him, but he had enough good moments to help the team win behind a defense that shut down the Bills. I don't think enough is said about how big it was to get a FG just before half time.

Every QB has off nights. Romo had his and made it worse with some poor decisions to go along with poor throws. Now he has to not let some of that bleed into next week and other games down the line.

Romo needs to do nothing else, but play FOOTBALL. Keep his head in the game and the rest will work itself out.

No more contract talk, please!

Romo was playing on the road, against a team that had not been home for a monday night game in 13 years. The defense was fired up, and it carried throughout the game. The fans were live, and the team was live.

Does anyone remember that Monday night game against the Dolphins, in which tom Brady threw not one, but 4 INT's and lost the game?

Romo threw 5 and fumbled and still won.

There are certain games in which no matter how much you are favored, the other team is just having one of those games. But at the end of the game, if you can still win the game for your team, then that is all that matters.

Everyone did there part in keeping the game close, but it was Romo who went 80 yards for the TD, and another 12 for the GW FG.

Wow, I wonder if Jerry was a genious for giving Aikman another contract after he threw for 5 intercetpions, and lost the game. And Kraft was genious for givng Brady a contract after throwing four interceptions on four occassions and losing all four games. How about Favre throwing 6 in a playoff game.

Point is, it happens even to the very best.............Romo has played pretty well so far and this is just a bump in the road, where he came back and won the game despite his bad game.

As a matter of fact, there is a quote from Jerry where is states that after last nights performance by Romo, his price went up.

9-11 on the final drive, didnt force the ball, made the correct throw to the endzone to crayton...

I have never seen another qb struggle and play so poorly only to become near perfect in the most crucial of moments in front of the loudest crowd the nfl has to offer.

he forced the ball early and made mistakes, he was hit repeatedly, his star wr let him down all night with poor routes and poor hands...

yet he was composed, accurate and patient in the most critical of moments. We won the game.

in my eyes that is what you look for. He didnt panic. He did his job.

:hammer: Exactly, Romo showed me that even when things have gone very wrong that he has the ability to go out there put the bad behind him and lead this team.

Exactly what I was thinking. It is up to the OC to call some plays to stop the bleeding too. It is up to the running game to stop the bleeding too. We did not have that this game. Romo was rattled and after #3 he was playing very cautious which led to number 4 and a few errant safe (out of bounds) throws.

Again a bad read on #5. I have never seen Romo read a defense as bad as last night so I will take it as an abberation for now but I will be very nervous for him next week.

It just seems to me that we asking a lot of Romo and expect our young QB with only 1 year of experience to play like a 3-4 year vet. Combining his numbers from last year and this year, he has been great. He just needs time to gain that experience. He's improved a lot since last season and should continue to improve as this year moves along. Also don't forget Romo has played the Giants, Skins & Eagles before in their stadiums. It will just be real interesting to see how they try to defense him. It's a credit to his play that our opponents must game plan him cause Cowboys sure don't game plan Eli Manning or the kid in Washington.

LOL EXACTLY - Wood took the Steve Young Post game and posted it here.

He even spelled cautious incorrectly. Way to go Steve!

What gave you any indication that Jerry Jones wasn't being patient in evaluating Romo? There was no need for this post. It just seems like this is a closet attempt at criticizing Romo. I have no problem with criticizing Romo or any player on our team, but there is a time to do it. You have to be fair about this. We are still 5-0 and he made plays when he had to toward the end. His overall stats are still respectable. You have to evaluate a player overall. No QB is without his faults. You can examine Peyton Manning's game and criticize him Therefore, you have to be fair and take a balanced approach. Romo is playing well overall. He had a bad night but until he has a string of bad nights, I don't think these types of threads are warranted in my opinion.

Was it only a bad read on #5? It looked like he missed the read and did not realize that the LB was underneath, but it also looked like Witten was just covered well anyway on that play. He forced it. Bad decision plus a bad read. Bad game. He will/needs to get over it.

As much as it pains me to have to agree with Fortdick about anything, he is right.

As Jim Rome said this morning, by being able to win the game despite turning the ball over six times, Romo showed he has "it".

No ...... just another armchair football "expert" parroting what he heard on TV.

Romo showed alot in bouncing back from the worst game in his career.
