I know the AFL team was the Texans. The NFL team was going to be the Rangers or Steers, but they went with the Cowboys. Good thing they did.:starspin

It would not be the Texans because they were a separate team from day #1.

It was unnamed but tenatively dubbed the Rangers which it forfeited on account of the minor league baseball team that held the same name at the time in Dallas. Steers was briefly considered but Schramm didn't find a castrated bull to be a suitable name, at the last minute he settled on Cowboys and it has been that way ever since.

I do know that prior to being known as the Texans the franchise was called the Yanks before they moved from Boston, is this what you are refering toward?

I'm sorry but none of my further research has yielded a now defunct football team that could be credited to Dallas, all I can confirm is that as I stated earlier the Texans were originally the Boston Yanks at one time and naturally changed their names shortly after relocating to Texas.

Too bad those Milwaukee Badgers didn't survive, that would've divided the packer faithful in an all Wisconsin showdown, meat packers versus beer brewers in a battle for cheese supremacy.

I think you might have outsmarted yourself with this question however, unless you are refering to a non NFL/AFL team.
