This is just an unpretentious, what if thread that could be done with any kicker on any team also. I was thinking about Brandon Aubrey's value to the team and wondered how Dallas would have fared in its seven wins and the one tie if Aubrey's points (field goals and extra points) were completely subtracted from the final scores. <Please note: I focused only on the wins and did not care about the team's losses when thinking of this thread>

This assumes that the Cowboys don’t attempt a single extra point and on fourth down in field goal range they just kneel down.
Yes, and essentially praises the kicker for doing the job kickers are paid to do. I'm happy to have Aubrey and think he's a great kicker (he's second-team All-Pro for a reason) but kicking is just part of the game.

Now, if we want to look at 50-plus-yard kicks he made to help us win games, that's a little different because it's a more specific skill that not all kickers have. The Giants game particularly stands out for the importance of his long-distance kicks.

Sorry guys but this is ridiculous This is pretty much football all teams rely on the kicker as part of their regular game points it it a matter of Semantics on who does it more but it I bet it's all closer than you think..

It's not going away football root word foot kicking equals All teams use their kickers a lot it's part of the game.. Being a very normal part of the game and I get it maybe the Cowboys occasionally because they know their kickers very reliable go to them more than others but not much more I guarantee if you did a 32 team study you'd find out that teams have gotten a field goal range as much as us which was a lot more I guarantee we had more first downs We got inside the 40 a lot more because I know our offense was that good this year and yes it stalled out too much and yes we need to work on the red zone but you guys are nuts if you don't think this is more normal than it isn't...

For the 2025 NFL season (ending early 2026), Jason Myers (Seahawks) led in total points, setting a record for non-touchdown points, with kickers like Ka'imi Fairbairn, Brandon Aubrey, and Nick Folk also high in scoring, while Cameron Dicker (Chargers) led in accuracy and attempted kicks, with specific data pointing to Nick Folk and Aubrey leading fantasy rankings and Cam Little hitting long kicks.
Here's a breakdown of top performers in scoring and related kicking stats for the 2025 season:
Top Scorers (Points/Value)
  • Jason Myers: Set an NFL record for most points in a season without a touchdown in 2025.
  • Nick Folk & Brandon Aubrey: Led fantasy rankings in total value due to high scoring and accuracy, according to a Week 8 update.
  • Ka'imi Fairbairn, Brandon Aubrey, Jason Myers: All were top in kicking stats, with Fairbairn leading in FG%, per Pro-Football-Reference.
Accuracy & Volume Leaders
  • Cameron Dicker: Extremely accurate (93%+) and led in attempts with 98 made field goals by Week 8, per FOX Sports and USA Today.
  • Nick Folk & Eddy Pineiro: High field goal percentages (96.6%) and high makes (28 each) by mid-season, notes NFL.com.
Longest Field Goals
To get final, definitive point totals, you'd need to check a source like Pro-Football-Reference.com or ESPN after the season concluded in early 2026.

Ok so take the other teams kickers away too and do the math, stupid comparison.

Aubrey is valuable no doubt but this is spin
Oh it's a veiled attempt being passive aggressive against the Cowboys as if it's the only team that utilized their kicker as a very important piece of scoring which would be all 32 teams with very small Gaps on who utilizes them more or less..

I mean it is Trolling at its best..

Gaslighting I don't know We're in we're gonna be considering the Cowboys slow part of their season..... Football is coming to an end soon so they need something to talk about let's just say the Cowboys user kicker way more than others without actually showing us the other 32 teams...

Given this one fact I know there are other kickers that kicked more field goals and had more attempts therefore it can't be just the Cowboys given the fact that kicking is done with your foot it's called football and it's been part of football since the beginning right has ever been a time where there wasn't goal posts in each end zone were they a different color back then or they just sit there and get no work?

Crazy how much we rely on our kicker!!! All these players on offense making good money and we can't put the ball in the end zone!!
Are you trying to agree with him thinking there's a huge difference for all 32 teams and the way they utilize a kicker or is it just that some have great kickers and utilize them a little more because they can although I agree they need to work on the red zone stuff I know for a fact that there are three or 4 kickers that attempted more field goals this year than than Brandon Aubrey maybe not from beyond 60 but it's a known fact that the kicker is part of everybody's point scoring it is very important.

Oh there are some teams that part of their scoring has been skewed a lot because their defense scores so the point differentials are all different but I can promise you this there's not a big difference between team one and Team 32 on how many points that were gained by their kicker most kickers are up there in scoring because every team uses them, and its big part of the game....

And you think discuss this before and I think it's because he watched the Cowboys so much you think that they kicked a lot more field goals than others but maybe it's because they're in field goal range more often not just because the range is larger they do move the ball between the 40s really well like have more first downs and are in that field goal range a little more often than other teams therefore they will kick a few more field goals..

First off to make this even an interesting thought experiment you would need to take away the kicker points from the opposing team. I posted about this a few weeks back -- there are two types of teams that have a lot points by kickers. Bad offenses whose points are primarily by kickers, and really good offenses who even on unsuccessful drives get their kicker into range (e.g., Detroit). Dallas fell into this latter group.

I would assume most means would have a worse record without their kickers points?
Lol yes. OP's approach is so flawed and basic. Newsflash, NFL games are usually close on average and subtracting the kicker's points will mean your score gets subtracted. And many games would then flip.

And it's funny, Dallas loses all their kicking points but we don't do the same for the teams we are facing? :lmao: What kind of logic is this?

I get thinking this is some novel approach but kicking is part of the game and Aubrey gets paid to do this and does it well.
