California Suite was the first movie I can recall seeing Maggie Smith play in back during the 1970's. I have a thing for actors who are naturally sarcastic, which I love.

Smith had a biting wit smoothly delivered via her very British nature. Her part made an impression that never left me. There was almost nothing that she played in through the years that I did not end up enjoying.

Rest in peace, Ms. Smith. Your passing is yet another reminder for me that growing old sucks.

Her delivery on sarcasm was among the best, and she seemed like a nice lady.

Seems to be a huge amount of British actors who had bigger careers as a senior actor. Her, Ian McKellen, Anthony Hopkins, Christopher Lee, Sean Connery, etc… Guess that’s a sign of a true thespian when they can still star in movies without the looks or action needs.
