per kffl it looks as if Damien Woody could be cut from the Lions. The blurb didn't mention whether the move would be cap or performance related. Could be worth a look if it happened, though (considering he's still serviceable). He's no spring chicken (29) but he's not ready for the retirement home either.

I thought the same thing carp. BTW it's good to see you posting here. Ican't remember what board I used to post on that you were a regular (Silverstar, maybe). Anyhoo, good to see you around.

If he came at the right price yeah... He's an 8 year vet. Jerry would need to be careful on signing older offensive lineman after the Rivera experiment. Hopefully that one's over too...

If he were to get released then that automatically means he sucks and I don't want him. After all, if he's so good then why did he get cut?

/end MickeySpagnola moronic logic

Seriously, He's solid, but it does raise a few eyebrows as to why a sorry team like the Lions would release a "Good" player. From what I've read/heard, Woody is lazy. I'd much rather have Dielman or Steinbach.

Another name that intrigues me, and it might make some people want to puke, is Luke Pettigout (sp?). The guy had an injury last year, but before the injury he was clearly the best player on that o-line. I would definitely take a look.

Well this seem to be the perfect player for Bill. Maybe he can get his motivated.....wait...crap....nevermind.

Sorry, that was just the normal line to follow anything about a player being lazy.

No team has an ideal secondary, and at least has one glaring hole. Its how you scheme around it, and disguise your weaknesses - thats how you win football games. BP and Zimmer obviously couldn't think of anything to stop teams from exposing our safeties.

Pass rush can make a secondary look good. The Chargers secondary on paper is awful, but the guys up front make them look great. Our secondary can't flourish until we start getting in the QBs face and start making them make bad throws.

Damien Woody. The veteran right guard missed the final half of the season with a football injury and still has three years left on his contract, but there's a good chance he won't be back with the Lions. Woody was fined all season for being overweight, a problem he's had since joining the team several years ago. Woody will cost $4.5 million against the cap if he's cut, but he's due a $4.5 million salary for the 2007 season so the Lions might consider it a push -- and push Woody out the door.

Ahh, wasn't aware of the insubordination and laziness issues. Nice find clever. Don't know if he would be totally off my radar but those facts are a little eye opening. Thanks.

It does make me wonder, but I really doubt it's that big of a deal. But maybe this will deter some teams and bring down his price. Overall, I think he's a more than solid guy w/ Pro bowl caliber experience.

Ya'll are seriously interested in a guy who can't play for the team with the worst o-line in football because he hasn't been able to get in shape?

Not really all that interested. But I definitely think we need someone that can do a better job than Rivera. I would love a younger guy, with experience, superior talent, for not a lot of money. I don't know if it's Woody, but it could be.
