“Of all the players I’ve coached in my entire career, the Cowboys inquired with me personally more about Dak than any team – and more than any player ever,” Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen said. “I talked to the position coach. I talked to the coordinator. I talked to the head coach.”

Sup, Garrett haters? Sup, Jerry haters?

If you all got your way, Jerry would've fired Garrett after last season (if not sooner).

Had Garrett been fired, Linehan and Wilson would've likely been out the door as well.

Jerry didn't listen.

So that coaching trifecta, still employed by your Dallas Cowboys, went ahead and did their research for finding our next franchise QB.

Mission accomplished. Franchise is in GREAT shape for the next decade plus now. We're the NFL's best team and Garrett looks like he'll win Coach of the Year.

Sup?

I've been telling people this since the draft. There are some people who keep saying, "we lucked into it" but that's not the case. They wanted Dak even if they got Lynch or Cook or anyone else. That said, no one expected him to be as good this fast, so that in itself is "lucky" but there was no luck in the Cowboys interest in him.

Big time assumption on your part they we would've drafted Dak after already selecting a QB.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Watching the draft day call to Dak, you can see how pleased Jason Garrett was with the pick. He was positively beaming. Jerry didn't seem to have his heart in it too much at the time, but the coaches definitely did. I still love how Dak confidently said, "I'm ready." Yes he was!

When, to make a point, you have to say stuff that completely lacks credence, it is better not to make that point

I'm as excited as anyone about this team, but the name of the game is consistency. We've seen 2 great years go down the toilet already. I too feel like this is a different team and am looking forward to having a relevant team for years, but that's yet to be seen. I've said it many times before, show me, don't tell me. I'm enjoying the hell out of this year, but next year will be just as, if not more, important in proving this team is ready to be a dynasty. I hope we have our next Landry (as far as longevity) in Garrett, and our next Jimmy Johnson rolled in to one.....

Lucked into him? Yes and no... No, based on the fact that the Cowboys scouted him. Absolutely yes in the fact that Coach Mullen is also on record telling the Cowboys that Dak is worthy of the #1 overall pick and that workouts are NOT his strength... PRIOR to the draft.

The Cowboys coaching staff had this direct knowledge from a reputable source (his college coach of 5 years) scouted him harder than any other team and still yet decided that Charles Tapper was a more valuable pick than Dak Prescott. Talk about some complete ignorance on that assessment. That is beyond lucky that another team didn't pick him up earlier. Unless the Cowboys coaching staff and scouts had inside knowledge on all the other teams draft plans... Again, luck wouldn't even begin to describe the situation that he was there at the end of round 4.

and yours is not an assumption? Cowboys had an interest more so than other teams according to the HC that was at Miss St. Where you there? Dallas sent assistant coaches, OC and Garrett for a team who had no interest at all they sure as hell sent a lot of people. You claim luck based on your assumption but Dallas did their homework with Dak and the facts are there they sent the people and took the time to work him and interview him.

I'm right there with you. Heck this year isn't even over yet. I'll wait and see. I'm enjoying the ride but don't want it to end after one season.

Not an assumption at all. The Cowboys spent too much time and effort on Dak for it to be "lucky". Now, would they have taken him where they did if they got Lynch or Cook? Probably not, but he would have still been on their board.

I've also said this before several times, and that is every pick in the draft is a "lucky" pick except the very first pick because any player drafted after the 1st overall pick could have been taken by another team.

If anything, Elliott was a lucky pick because 3 other teams could have drafted him and had teams above us not traded those picks away to QB desperate teams, he very well may have been taken by them or someone else they traded with. We are very lucky to get Elliott as a result.
