so he so badly wanted to work here....ok

There was a silence edict at the ranch. No coaches are to talk. Granted, he left not under contract, but I have counted 11 interviews about his roles.opinions, coaches, personell.Fine, but dont play the "i would be back in 5 minutes" card. You are blatantly disregarding a standing order and want to put all the blame on JJ, then act like you want to come back?

This is scant different than going for interview and then posting the company's strategic discussion with you to the paper.

No one was clamoring for this retread in weeks 1-SB. The Only reason he is getting any play, is because he was coming into "save" a 9-7 team with a star QB, because he was so successful doing that in the past....err...he was unemployed.

Players are not respond any differently to this 65 yr old retread than they did the last one. especially being out of the league for so many years.

If he really loved the cowboys, he would not talk about running games.TO,Garett.etc

On second thought. he would fit right with the rest of media ****** in the org.

Let's throw the guy who spent a whole 2 1/2 days at the Ranch in no official capacity under the bus.

:laugh2:

Only the Zone could make Reeves the villain.

If the membership here was only made up of some of these guys you would have to rename it homerzone.com

The man has a point.

Anyone with any class would not be talking about this stuff in the media. This is between the employer and prospective employee. Let the media speculate all it wants but keep your own mouth shut.

This is exactly the same crap we complain about when Crayton or Ellis opens their mouths. Why is it different when Reeves opens up to anyone with a mic?

Probably has something to do with the 23 years and 9 SB appearances. Maybe not.

He has a tiny point though, before we brought him up, I hadn't heard jack about him and now he's talking to anyone that will listen and making it clear he wants to get back into coaching and answering questions about players and staff he worked with for a whole two days.

I will say only that it would be hard for Dan Reeves to ask players not to speak publicly now after this whirlwind tour. I like Reeves but he has to have a sore throat right now.

He did speak to just about every reporter he could. He wasn't openly critical of Jones or the Cowboys but he sure did do a lot of talking only to state he wouldn't say what the added clause was. He denied it being about time commitment only to have us all find it it was over a time commitment clause being added to his contract.

He stated himself Jerry conceded a lot of points then after settling on a title and all that this added clause was the deal breaker. At the same time if the clause was removed he'd sign in a heartbeat. So that isn't pride or respect to me, that is contractual obligations he'd rather not be held to.

I don't think anyone is the bad guy here. It may suck in general but no one is the villain.

No one is required to sign any contract they don't feel comfortable with and no one is required to offer one. Reeves has every right to pass on a job that requires a huge time commitment. He has been there and done that in the league. He has grand kids he enjoys. And he has every right to determine his own market value for any role he decides to pursue. No loss of respect for him by me.

At the same time, all those bagging Jones for this though are just silly. Its his 2 mil or whatever so its his call. He is certainly not require dot hand Dan Reeves 2 million and say go ahead Dan and just do whatever you want.

I know it seems an extreme position, but Dan Reeves has ran his mouth about what the internal PRIVATE discussions were regarding this team. I have no problem with that, if he says "I don't see us ever working together", but no, he says, "if Jerry changes the 'wording', I would be back in 5 minutes, not even 48 hours"

But not even 24 hours after it falling through, he is talking about staff and personell discussions publically.

What good is that doing the team? It only created more turmoil. Was it Wade trying to reign in Garrett because he had no authority over him? Was it a counselor? Was Jerry really on board? did Garrett balk? Was it TO?

It was a wierd situation, but what is apparent is that he couldn't wait to talk about his 2 1/2 days

If Jerry said "no media" and at least Wade abided, then Reeves showed he was not "looking out" for his prized organization, but rather himself. That's fine, but don't then lobby for the same job you walked from or come across as sooooooooo disappointed.

The only thing you have to give Wade, TO and Jerry is that they have at least not gone with soundbites to the media.

...unlike garret and now reeves.

Reeves does radio shows (hosting) all the time on Sirius NFL radio. You just hadn't heard him on local Dallas radio, but he's constantly "in the media."

I like that he's campaigning for the job. I just hope it all gets resolved and he can go start babysitting Garrett.

I'm not blaming anything totally on him or totally on anyone. They're both morons for the way this thing went down and especially when it went down over something as stupid as the amount of hours expected to be at the Ranch working.

The OP makes a good point fellas.

Why is Reeves talking to anybody with a mic about "internal discussions".

He needs to keep his dam mouth shut and not add to an already hostile environment. He was offered a contract and he did not like the wording and walked away.

Fine, I have no problem with that. However, dont walk away and head directly to the media and spill the beans on everything you saw or heard while you were "on the inside".

And the OP is also correct that nobody, and I mean nobody, even mentioned Reeves until the SB.

While Jerry's rant was a bit on the unstable side, I tend to think it was to dispute some of the sympathy-garnering interviews Reeves was spinning all afternoon.

I also think if Reeves had left it alone after a single interview, the deal could've been salvaged. Or at the very least, Jerry wouldn't have gone on GAC.
I'd like to point out that I made a similar point in another thread PRIOR to this one being posted.

No taking my shine, McLovin. ;)
