Been working on tape on a lot of these guys. Getting a good idea based on workouts what team is trying to do. I won't make any trades as that is too hard to predict. Here goes my crack at it....

1st Rd : Byron Jones CB Connecticut - Jason Garrett's type of guy. Team leader. Outstanding player with HUGE upside.

2nd Rd : TJ Yeldon RB Alabama
- Seems the team loves him. Can he be workhorse back? I believe he can if he stays healthy. But that is a HUGE IF.

3rd Rd : Garrett Grayson QB Colorado State -
Team worked player out. Looking to develop QB behind Romo. It's either him or Petty in my opinion.

4th Rd : Frank Clark DE Michigan
- Off the field issues push him down. 1st round talent.

5th Rd : Ty Montgomery WR Stanford
- Dwayne Harris replacement on special teams

7th Rd : Chaz Green T Florida
- Really good player when healthy. Hasn't been that much.

7th Rd : Gabe Martin LB Bowling Green -
Special teams player who constantly made plays in college

I'd be shocked if the Cowboys pick Grayson in the third. What other players were available in the third? Otherwise, not a bad draft.

Not crazy about any of the picks besides Chaz Green in the seventh.

Garrett Grayson, Colorado State
Measurables: 6-2, 213, 4.60
Stats: Threw for over 7,600 yards the past two years.
Scouts Say: "No, I don't want him. Some team might, but it won't be us.'' ..."We weren't impressed. There's too much that needs to be done.'' ..."Good arm, pretty accurate, too. He just needs to work on mechanics and things like that. He'll be OK.'' ..."If he went to Alabama or Oregon, you would have heard a lot more about him. I think he's going to be pretty good.''

I would take this but don't think Peters is on board.

Kinda hate rounds 2-4

-I think there will be RB's available in the 3rd that are no worse than Yeldon. Think he would be a reach there
-"Developmental" QB in the 3rd is statistically almost the same as throwing the pick away
-If Clark was a 1st round talent he'd be in the NFL already. He went back for his Sr year because he was considered a middle round prospect. The trouble should only push him down further

I just posted a mock and had green in it. Almost had Gabe Martin too. Don't think we will be drafting anyone they haven't spent time with. They learned the hard way with Mo

wouldn't be too upset with that.
I doubt Conley and especially Clark are there in those spots.

Truth be told, this is more likely to be the picks. Each year, I think the Cowboys are going to take players I know or whom I expect to be drafted, and each year they surprise me by taking players who aren't sexy and aren't high on the pundit's list but turn out to be pretty good players.

Having said that, I don't think they take Yeldon in the second round. Yeldon will be available in the third, and I'm predicting he'll last until the fourth round.

I think the Cowboys are serious about finding Romo's replacement. It should be a guy with talent who can sit the bench for a few years and learn to be an NFL quarterback. Petty will likely be gone by our second-round selection, but Grayson would be a good, er, Padawan, to Jedi Master Romo.

And the more I think about it, if Gurley isn't available at #27, we go corner back. And I think we're going to take two backs in this draft. Just a hunch.

Montgomery is an after-thought, but wasn't he considered a first-round talent last year or a few years ago? He should be able to fill the void Harris leaves and may be Harvin-like player who could help out in the receiving game.

I like Byron Jones and think he will be a very good corner, very quickly.

Yeldon, I wouldn't hate... but I would in the second round. Even if he wasn't available in the 3rd (and I think he would be), there would be someone just as good as him there.

Grayson in the 3rd? No thank you. I just can't see that happening. Maybe Petty (although I doubt it) but not Grayson.

I am a fan of Dallas taking Clark, so I won't quibble with him going a round earlier than I wanted to take him... but he is not a first round talent. Without the off field issues, the earliest he might go is the second or third, and second would be pushing it. I think Marinelli would make a beast out of him, so again, I'm not going to argue about taking him in the 4th.

Montgomery is a good returner, so not a bad pick there. However, when I look at this draft and see Grayson there, I would much rather take Lockett as the returner in the 3rd and worry about Romo's successor later.

Can't complain about either Green or Martin in the 7th. I like both of those picks.

With a few tweaks, this is more what I'd like to see:

1. Byron Jones CB
2. Tevon Coleman RB
3. Tyler Lockett Return Specialist
4. Gabe Wright DT
5. Frank Clark SDE
7. Chaz Green OT
7. Gabe Martin LB

I don't disagree... however, there is a good chance all 3 of those guys are gone by 27. Brown should be for sure.

Reasonable draft.

Jones is a good pick.

I do think Yeldon is underrated; although the 2nd "feels" a little early.

Any QB is unlikely to make me happy.

Clark is really talented.

No problem with Montgomery. If they get a WR as a returner, I prefer one with decent size which he has. They don't need to carry another small WR on the game day roster besides Beasley.

Green is a good player and is more developed than many of the late round OLinemen.

I've watched a few game of Martin. He is interesting. He looks like a good player overall. He looked like he was running fine at times but at other times looked really sluggish. He was returning from an ACL which might have been the issue.
