1. Just to be clear, I'm not necessarily proposing that this thread only contain dark horse candidates that any one of us
endorse. Rather, I'm looking for input on possible less-visible targets, given some line(s) of reason that could make a less-visible coach a legitimate candidate that eventually emerges.
2. Why so? This time last year the guy who became the HC? He only would have ever shown up in exactly this kind of thread.... a dark horse if ever there were a dark horse for HC is who got hired, of course.
3. That all said... I like others who are being mentioned regularly higher on my list than I like Charlie Strong.
But. Charlie Strong does seemingly fit both the explicit criteria as well as some of how this braintrust has ever hired people before.
Do I like him? I like his reputation as a coach that connects with his players. I like that he's been "the man" in some very high profile positions, so the bright lights aren't anything to him. I even kinda like that he's
not yet been an NFL head coach, so that would hint that he has some hunger yet to ascend to that, yet he's not a "rebound" guy in the way that Jerry talked yesterday about rebound guys.
So... I will be neither upset nor thrilled if this were to actually play out. I like what I know, and/but I just don't know what I don't know.
