Could anyone see Jerry using this years draft to get the Cowboys in a position to make a run toget MacFadden next year? Just a thought with JJ heading into his final year and no real holes to fill this year (unless Colombo doesn't resign). It could be worth the gamble if something was to develope.

Of course you'd have to find a pretty lousy team that would be looking to move up in the draft. Maybe the Skins will trade up with us, back into the first so they can select Troy Smith.

Give us next years 1st, and surely that'll be a top 5 pick!!

Not true. It would take some creative trading and good foresight to find a team that is projected to suck this upcoming season and gain their 1st round draft pick for next year. That is not an easy task, so I doubt Jerry is concerned with setting Dallas up to be in position to grab McFadden next year.

I was not insinuating tanking this season, I was thinking more of trading this years first and picking up an extra first next year type scenerio.

Right, I agree. The last thing JJ is thinking is about next year's draft and about any certain players. Since the draft is a crap shoot anyway, much can happen. McFadden could blow out a knee next year, then drop like McGahee did. To many variables at this stage.

Who says just because he'd be eligable next year that he'd come out early? What if Jerry trades this years first to get two next year and McFadden decides to stay?

Even with the trade we are getting ahead of ourselves. Cleveland will have to be the worst team in the league and McFadden will need to repeat his 06 season.

No guarantees a year from now - take Bush.

Cleveland has to play Pittsburgh, Cincy, and Baltimore twice....not too far fetched to see them go 0-6 in Division.

Then with the last 10 games.....hopefully they can go 4-6.

A 4-12 record would definitely put us in position for McFadden. Remember, we will have 2 first rounders next year.....

I know it is a year away, but right now McFadden is one guy I really like....but things can change in the next 365 days.

It really depends on how poorly CLE is this year.

As good as McFadden is, the #1 team might need a QB, you never know, so he could be there at #2 or #3.

I say take Bush reguardless, but with two picks we ARE in a position to trade up for him, or Cleveland may lose enough to net us a top 5 pick. Either way Jerry made this trade with MacFadden on his mind.

I have to agree with you. When a reporter brought that up to Jerry yesterday, he giggled a bit and said...."Who's he play for again"..........
