Great news, and I love the timing of it too. Having him go when we have a big game against the Seahawks should be a nice little team motivator too!

By far my favorite Cowboy of all time. Grew up watching him and the boys. He was one of the few bright spots on the team for a long time. He masked Roy Williams deficiencies for so long. He was the last safety we had that had the versatility to do it all. You would be surprised at how hard it has been to get an old Woody jersey, i'm still on the hunt.

OXNARD, Calif. – The Cowboys’ all-time leading tackler is about to get an ultimate recognition.
Darren Woodson will become the next member of the Cowboys Ring of Honor at AT&T Stadium, a move to be announced Tuesday at training camp.
Woodson, now a member of ESPN, has been at the camp site since Sunday.
The official ceremony will take place during the regular season this fall.
Woodson becomes the 21st player inducted, and the 19th player, and the first induction since the Cowboys added Drew Pearson, Larry Allen and Charles Haley at once in 2011.
A five-time Pro Bowler, Woodson is the only player in Cowboys history to play for five head coaches (Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer, Chan Gailey, Dave Campo and Bill Parcells.) He finished his career with 1,350 tackles, surpassing Lee Roy Jordan (1,236) in 2012.

“He’s the ultimate warrior. There’s no more like him,” said teammate Nate Newton. “He never left the field. He played all the special teams. He only left the field with the offense. He made everyone better. He was the back end to our defense.”

Still a little upset that Jerry added Drew Pearson along with Haley and Allen. It didn't make a lot of sense to add a 70's player along with two of the 90's players. Pearson's induction was way overdue and the focus should have been on him that day and the Cowboys great 70s teams.

I'm just glad he made it in. I know some did not like Aikman, Emmitt and Irvin going in together feeling each should have their own day and I think there is merit to that but in the end they are all part of a special family called the Ring of Honor.

I had no problem with the triplets going in together It made sense because they were three headed monster although I could see how some felt each player should have their own day. If they had been added individually there would've been a dispute as to which order they should have gone in so I feel putting them in together at the same time was a good idea. Pearson's induction was way overdue but he and Jerry had some sort of marketing dispute which prolonged the situation. The bottom line is as long as the players who deserve to be in get in that's all that really matters.

I agree. As I said they all become part of 1 fraternity and that is the ROH and normally all the living members show up for the ceremony of the newest member.

Darren Woodson mentioned Nate Newton and said he was well deserved to get in the ring of honor. I totally agree with that, in fact Nate should be considered for the Hof. I know he had the off the field issues but Nate should get in if we're going off on field production. Erick Williams would've made it if not for the car accident.

It's about time.

On the other hand, our safety position hasn't been the same since he retired.

Perfect! Absolutely one on my favorite Cowboys ever. We've been wandering the abyss for a decent safety since he left.

Good for Woody! Not many more deserving. Glad he's finally going to have his day.
