Darren Woodson: "There are no days off"

Too bad Woodson wasn't interim head coach for the playoffs. I don't believe this team was mature enough to be on vacation during their bye week. They needed to put in the extra work. Had they put in the extra work, I know they'd be going to the next round of the playoffs. What a waste.

"You can talk as much as you want, and it doesn't matter," former Cowboys safety Darren Woodson said. "Being a leader is about guys working hard every single day. There are no days off. It's about coming to work, and trying to be the best at something you love.

Agreed. We're approaching the biggest game of the year, yet he has guys get away for 4 days? THIS is when you work the HARDEST. Not take a vacation and "get away". The vacation is after you win a Super Bowl, not after going 13-3 and merely clincing HFA and a division playoff game. Wade handled the situation HORRIBLY.

When a college student like me has a final paper due in a week, I dont take a vacation and clear my head, I bust my *** and write the damn paper. Wade wants to be a great coach, not just great coordinator...He may want to rethink his decisions.

Wood is right,

just not smart for Romo and Witten to be in Cabo partying like rock stars with leaching celebrities.

It almost painted a picture Phillips had lost some control leading into playoffs. They should have booked that trip after Pro Bowl - JMO

Hang out in your house and low key it with the cougars.

You certainly won't see me faulting Romo and Witten for this loss.

Tony missed a couple throws but he was on the money when it counted. So was WittWitt.

I agree w/ Woody to a point. The entire team should have been putting in the extra work. The penalties this team had this year says a lot. How do you excuse all of those?

You can't.

If the coach tells you to get away from football, you get away from football.
Wade needs to re-think his losing ways come playoff time.

It's just a bad move for Romo to do that off week going into a key playoff game. He has all of February to May to play rock star. It put Wade in a bad light and you know what the other 51 guys in his locker room (minus TO) not there might have said, what?

The Cowboys, and Romo in particular, opened themselves up for this debate. As far as I am concerned however, Romo played well enough to win. Had Crayton played as hard as he talked all season, we would be worrying about the frozen tundra this Sunday.

We have discussed the mistakes ad nauseum, but if the Cowboys cut the penalties in half, they win the game. Not to mention clock management, clean tackles and decent O Line play late in the game.

/on a related note, was it Barber who was tired after the first half? Or the O-Line because of a philosophical shift heading into the playoff game?

I guess we have several months to think about it.

I was saying this the whole game to my friends. Dallas appeared to be missing some of the most basic fundamentals of football.

Tackling (wrapping up - can we get SOMEONE who wraps up on a tackle)

Knowing the play

Knowing your assignment (how many people saw both O and D having issues w/ lining up)

Drove me nuts seeing all of the unpreparedness(sp?) out there last Sunday.

I might also say to what Wood said, this is a team with no pelts or playoff history. Maybe they should have been working and more focused versus 4 days away in Cabo etc.

In the biggest game of the year we laid an egg.

unpreparedness(sp?)

Great word. Very fitting.

IMO, the worst thing that happened to the Cowboys is GB's loss to Chicago in week 16. I understand the injuries, and I know that injuries were part of the late swoon. That said, the Cowboys did not play a so called meaningful game for almost a month.

There is something to be said about playing your starters and remaining competitive regardless of the standings. If nothing else, the hard working fans deserve the best effort possible.

Wow-I'm shocked how everyone is OVER-reacting here.

For one, the likes of Andy Reid, Lovie Smith, et al have given their players an ENTIRE week off during the playoff bye. I repeat, an ENTIRE week. Look how well they came out of the gate.

Wade, OTOH, gave ONLY 3 days off. Otherwise, he DID hold practices during the off week.

BTW-remember the bye week before the Philly game? Wade did the exact same thing-held 2-3 days of practices during the off week, then gave his guys THREE days off at the end, before resuming practice the week after. And the final score in that game was what...38-17, Dallas??

*sigh* Again-I think you guys just think too darn much.

Woodson as possible secondary coach? He was great while he was here and made Roy W. look a lot better, always seemed a lot like a coach to me at the end any way...any thoughts?

Actually we would be worrying about getting tickets to Texas Stadium, but I'm sure you prob knew that.

Couldnt have said it better myself. I cant wait for the day he gets in Canton.

A sence of urgency was never installed into the Cowboys this year. It looks like they believed their press cliipings with the exception of TO.

Especially with 24/7 cable with many sports networks, numerous publications, and the internet, it's getting REALLY tempting for these players to bite in their own cheese. And they ARE human, after all.(It looked to me like the Pats looked past the Ravens in the MN game)

However-HOW could it have lasted over OVER a month is what I don't understand?? You would have thought the Philly loss WOULD have been their wakeup call.(If anything, these believe-your-own-press-clippings-stink-games usually only last ONE game)

Ultimately, this is why I'm not buying that "they ate the cheese to early" theory.
