Darren Woodson says it comes down to battle of the secondaries

Was watching NFL Live with Darren Woodson and Mark Schlereth and both agreed that the game today will be decided by the secondaries since both units have two of the highest powered aerial offenses in the league. Among all NFL teams, NYG are #2 in yards/reception and Dallas is #4 in yards/reception. Man, how long has it been since we could say that! (BTW, Steelers are actually #3 I believe. Talk about taking advantage of the run.) Both guys seems to think that Dallas will have an easier time taking advantage of the Giants secondary than New York will with us. Specifically, they think Parcells should lineup Glenn across from DeLoatch as much as possible because he doesn't have the speed to catch up to Glenn once he blows the press coverage. Woody was giving our new linemen props saying that we're attacking more than ever, and that a lot of our pressure is not coming from blitzes, just more talented menaces up front.

If Woody ends up being correct (and I'm not sure he will), we should win this game comfortably. There's no comparison between the quality of our secondary and theirs (especially with all of the injuries they've suffered).

I'm personally very worried about the Strahan/Petitti matchup. Throw all the secondary stuff out the window if Bledsoe starts getting shell-shocked.

Nice Post. I would be suprised if allen isnt on Glenn since he is considered our fast guy. But during training camp they had Deloatch on Carter who is our speedster wr and he kept with him pretty much stride for stride.

I am really looking forward to watching either of them on Glenn. I do agree that the 2ndry on both teams will prob be one of the major factors, besides the QB and oline play.

Dallas is higher in yards per attempt due to Bledsoe's higher completion percentage. So both teams are throwing the ball down the field, but the Cowboys are doing so more efficiently IMO.

Your concern is understandable. I'm sure that Bill will make sure he has lots of help, however.

Honestly I think this is a better matchup for Petitti than Kearse was. Strahan doesn't have the edge speed Kearse does... he relies more on power and I think that's Petitti's strong suit. I just can't see Strahan bull-rushing Petitti back into the pocket too often.

The Giants don't have the speed at wide receiver that we've faced the last couple of weeks.

Strahan is ten times the player Kearse is, and this will be Pettiti's biggest test. if he can stand firm and keep Micheal at bay for the most part, we should win hands down. also, i think our DL is starting to really come on. Rookies SPears, Ware, Canty, and the other guy (?) whose name is escaping me are on a learning curve and getting better with each game.
i think we'll bring significant heat with some middle blitzes, and pray we can contain Tiki. He's the real threat to us in this game, IMO.

Strahan is owning Petitti today. Our worst fears have been confirmed.

The best tackles in the league have fits with Strahan one on one. He's about as good as it gets. We need to double Strahan a bit better and we're fine. I think Petitti has done okay against Strahan. We had a lot of time to throw it most of the have. You just can't leave Strahan with one man on him that often.

Yeah, I'll give ya that. Petitti is doing what we should expect from a 6th round rookie offensive tackle I guess. Not as dominating as Larry Allen or Big E were in their rookie years, but could be a solid guy with more experience, kind of like a Tuey. I still feel more comfortable with Rob than I do Torrin Tucker out there.

He's probably better at that tackle then we've had in recent years. I think he'll be a guy that's in Dallas maybe a few years then someone else will come on and he'll be cut. But he's decent enough to give us plenty of time to throw like we've done a lot of that half. Not just that last drive. I think we had 100 yards of offense going into that last drive. And at times Drew has had all day to throw. Strahan will beat Flozel Adams 2 or 3 times a half if he's one on one against him. I'll take it if we can move the ball like we did that half. If we don't turn it over the game will be well in hand by the end of the 3rd quarter unless our D falls apart.
